Firstly Hello! I’m a complete newbie here so bare with me and mods feel free to move this if its in the wrong place.

Now I appreciate this question has probably been asked before but a lot of what I have read online is a few years old so might well have changed.

Basically i'm after advice on the easiest and most economical way of getting mbc / arabsat channels in Essex. I understand they are on Badr2 (not that that means a lot to me!). Just after an idea of dish size, motorized or not, receiver required, ball park install cost.

Any advice you can give or links to up-to-date information greatly received.

Thanks.

Not Badr 2 - she went to the junk orbit many years ago. Badr 4 11919H.

The "MBC beam" footprint is a complete fabrication - I used to be able to get 11919H on the equivalent of about a 90cm dish easily, although with little rain fade margin 30 miles south of Edinburgh!.

I can get it on a 88cm mesh dish but with a more reliable signal on my 100cm set here in Essex

Thanks for the replies.
So if i go for a 100cm motorized dish set up what would be a good entry level HD receiver to do the job? Ideally i want to get a complete package that is an easy install for me to do. Ive had a look on line, but there's so many to choose from I need some guidance regarding the potential pit falls or short comings of different types of system.

The Technomate TM5402 are well regarded receivers - several of the members here on the forum have them, as well as several of the staff.

Thats on Badr 6 - not available in the UK without a very big dish indeed.

There are 3 co-located satellites Badr's 4 5 & 6 all slotted at 26E.

Only B4 is easily available in the UK - and not for much longer as shes due to be replaced in the not too distant future.

Yes as mentioned above Badr-7 26° East with 36 Ku tps is due to launch on 3 November 2015
http://www.arabsat.com/pages/Satellite.aspx?sid=42&pid=246

Launched
Badr-4 08.11.2006
Badr-6 07.07.2008
Badr-5 03.06.2010

As the satellites have a life expentancy of 12 to 15 years Badr-7 may be used as back up or maybe replace Badr-4 ?

I can find nothing on the Arabsat site to confirm this either way,

Badr-7 Footprint below

You will find the other Badr satellite footprints in the link above.
