Just ordered an 8000 with DVD and hardrive.

so no doubt I'll be on here very soon asking all kinds of " Help 8000 owner can't get what ever to work " sort of questions...........

Had or still have a 7025 that's for auction on fleabay, and soon I'll have my 2 week old 800HD with 320 GB hardrive for sale on their also......

I knew I should have gone straight for the 8000 instead of getting the 800
but two weeks ago the 8000 was out of stock !

Anyway looking forward to participating more on this site as I've found it to be the best for Dreambox help & info...........

It looks the part from the moment you open it, i am still configuring mine and have not put a HDD in it yet, that will be very soon though.

Enjoy it.

Glad you got it safely mate. I was suprised how big the damn thing is. Its miles bigger than my DM7025. Get Nabilo on it as a matter of urgency. It really makes it sing. Some great features now.

I have loaded Nabilo, is that the prefered firmware for the 8000 ?

Its certainly the most popular. The features and speed of operation make it a very good image indeed. I use it myself and have no requirement to look elsewhere.

I seem to be having a problem with the box starting after being shutdown.
Everything was working fine following the installation on Friday.

On Saturday night I shutdown the box from the menu and on Sunday morning when turning the box back on from the remote it froze with a message saying booting. I basically reflashed and eventually got everything working again. Shutdown last night and it won't boot up again this morning!

Any ideas?

hmm, interesting issue. I don't shutdown so I've never seen it, I only use standby. I'll test it though and see. Are you using BH 0.11 directly in Flash ?

Its probably best that you ask at nabilo , you're likely to get a more informed response I should think. Please do report your findings here though.

Not using BH, flashed the box using the webinterface ie hold down the left button on power up and wait for the IP to be displayed then connect with a browser and flash the image.

Will ask over at nabilo as well.

Cheers

What image are you using mate ? You really should be using Nabilo BH 0.11 on the DM8000.

Sorry got confused read BH as Barry Allen!
Yes I am using BH0.11.

I have since removed the mains supply and when rebooting again all has been fine even if shutting down through the menu. Strange but happy all now seems fine.

Yip strange indeed, although I have a few tiny issues with the 8000 too but I live with them in hope that one day they'll disapear.:-rofl2

Nabilo can lag behind a bit. have a look at OoZooN - its a CVS image (upated every day) its a little bit harder initially, but there is support on IHAD and Satdudez.

oldfart, you get lag really ? Nabilo BH0.11 is the fastest image I've ever seen by a million miles ! Do you have it in flash ?

Oozoon is a little feature lacking as its meant to be a flash image for Barry Allen.

I have had this intermittent problem with various releases of BH. I turn the box off and on again at the mains and it normally boots up the second time saving having to reflash the image.

just bought mine today, on it's way and here in the morning. Not sure what hard drive to get yet, does the 8000 support SATA2 or just SATA? What connection do i need on it?

Thanks

Data/Power supply cable for a DVD slim drive included in the DB8000 package.

I believe SATA2 drives can be used, not absolutely certain though.

My hard disk is sata2 works fine.

yeah nice, i just ordered an energy saving western digital one yesterday which is SATA2 so they should both arrive around the same time.

Time to delve into the guides on flashing it with new images before it arrives :-D
