Hello all, can any explain why im losing Sky news, sky sports 1,2,3,4 and sky sports news at certain times of the day. I have fitted new LNB but only a bit better
Hi. I'm impressed if you are getting Sky News from 28.2E in Finland on a 1m dish. I don't even get a hint of a signal on a 1.8m in Helsinki since it moved to Astra 1N at the start of the year. Whereabouts in the south west are you?
Many channels moved when Astra 2B left onto the weaker 1N which is not covered by Finland well at all. Sky News and Sky Sports channels are broadcast from 1N now, at least until Astra 2E is launched and ready sometime later in the autumn. But then I'm not sure if the signal will get slightly better or even worse compared to 1N. Whatever happens it should not be as good as it used to be since the focus of these new satellites is more to the west. There is no northern beam any more.
Hello
It's the same here in Kiev on my 180cm dish
I can watch channels on frequencies 12070-12363(excluding 12285V & 12343H which are on Astra 2A) from 00:00 till 11:00.

Hi Timo, I live in the outskirts of Naantali, in the countryside, which is further west to Helsinki as you know. My English friend in Raisio has a 155 prime focus dish with Sky HD box and has no problems with these channels. Can you recommend a good sat shop in Finland that supplies dishes.
Hello Miha20, my channels start flicking at 1600, then they go at 1630. Sky sports 2 is the hardest to get and always goes first and comes back last. So annoying
Interesting, I remember a couple of people in Estonia on here also get much better reception than we do in Helsinki.
If you can put up with this a bit longer I would strongly suggest you hold on for Astra 2E to launch before spending too much money on new equipment. Everything is changing at the end of the year and we don't know what reception will be like. Check out satshop.fi for some ideas though.
Astra 2G's European beam should be OK for us in the south of Finland (it's similar to the old Astra 2A/2B south beam) but who knows if it'll be used for any Sky channels. I suspect 2F and 2E will be more heavily used by Sky so these two satellites are going to be more critical in deciding size of dish required (see https://sat.ses.com/webservice/images/12495165 for Astra 2F's European footprint and https://sat.ses.com/webservice/images/12494356 for 2E).
I've been monitoring these new 2F European beam channels over the last couple of days and I am picking up some on a 1.8m dish in Helsinki (inc the Nickelodeon channels) but they are only just coming in with some bad breakup most of the time. This is much better than I had expected. A 2.4m dish should bring in some of these channels here. Will have to wait and see how 2E behaves before I plan anything though. You may find a slightly smaller dish will work for you as you are further west but again, I wouldn't do anything until 2E is in operation later this year.
