Ok here we go:

NINE lost episodes from 2 stories have been recovered from a Nigerian TV station, both stories being from the Troughton era

Enemy of the World is complete - a six parter, only ep 3 had existed in the archives

The Web of Fear is complete apart from the still missing ep 3. Only ep 1 existed in the archives.

So to sum up

  • The Enemy of the World (1967-68) - episodes 1,2,3,4,5,6 (episode 3 was already in archive)
  • The Web of Fear (1968) - episodes 1,2,4,5,6 (episode 1 was already in archive - episode 3 still missing)

Does this mean the rumour of episodes found in Ethiopia still might be true?

The Ethiopia rumour is interesting, nothing confirmed yet, although there doesnt seem to be much going on to quash it either.

Its a case of wait & see for that one!
 
The Beeb Breakfast show had a few clips from Web of Fear. Have to say that the quality was excellent and they also showed what it was recovered from, which wasn't bad, but the improvement is amazing.

Although I would love to watch them there is absolutely NO chance of me selling my soul to iTunes so I suppose I'll have to wait a while.

They might also find a Spitfire or three in crates within the same pit.
 
The recovery rumours wont go away - theres an interesting ones doing the rounds atm which says 1964s completely missing 7 part Marco Polo will be the next lost series release, followed by numerous others through to 2016.

According to the rumour an official announcement will be made in December.

Before Tivu asks for his favourite pets - all Zarbi episodes already exist :D

Splendid. Can't wait to see them again (Once I've finished the Steptoe Box Set, of course: There were missing Episodes of that for a few days!).
 
More fascinating rumours about lost episodes being found are surfacing.

If current rumour is to be believed then there will be more announcements in the near future with The Massacre, The Macra Terror & possibly Marco Polo being the next releases.

A third announcement will see The Celestial Toymaker & The Faceless Ones released.


Web of Fear 3 may have turned up as well and be on the dvd release in February
 
The rumour mill is going into overdrive, with the main theory being Marco Polo has indeed been found (the earliest story suffering from missing episodes). Interestingly numerous forum discussion threads across several dr who forums are reported to have been closed this afternoon.

The Daily Mirror (yes I know its not the most reliable of sources!) and the Telegraph (not much better!) both have reports on their websites all 7 eps have been found.
 
Let's hope Classic material of later vintage is never lost!. What a palaver.
 
Sadly its still happening!

Much of the BSB output from the early 90s is missing - so if anyone has any old video tapes with day to day BSB output on it I know a man who would like hear from you.

Much of the Border TV archive was lost when the Carlisle studios were closed a few years ago - Ive already sent some video tapes that contain episodes of "Border Birthdays" & Border continuity to the relevant chaps for recovery.

One of my tapes had an ultra rare Border closedown from the mid 80s on it - the only one known to exist - it was shown at a BFI missing episodes event last December!

Ive got a couple of hundred video tapes safely stashed in my office at work that have been saved from the skip which may have more material on them
 
By coincidence Mark Eden, who was in Marco Polo, appeared in last night's An Adventure in Space and Time as Donald Baverstock.
 
Good news for those with Sky HD boxes and 3D TVs - BBC RB HD channel has launched on Sky EPG 977 just in time for tonights 50th anniversary 3D special.
