Can anyone help with this one.

Dreambox 7020.

LNB 1 19E
LNB 2 5E
LNB 3 13E
LNB 4 16E

Works just dandy set up as 4 lnb's on an 8 port lnb switch using disecq 1.0.

Now I want to add in LNB 5 for 23E and probably LNB 6 for 28E..

LNB 5 is all wired in but do you think I can work out the correct setting in the sat config advanced lnb settings menu?

Pic 1 shows the setup, pic 2 shows the lnb 5 config screen.

Changing all the lnb inputs to disecq 1.2 and playing with the inputs half works - LNB's 1 & 3 work fine, but 2 & 4 just sit there with "Please wait whilst the motor is turning to X degrees messages....

Hi AS

I thought that you had to go through storing positions with these, just like setting up a motor with Diseqc 1.2, using the EAST, WEST, buttons.
I vaguely remember reading something like that on the manf' website.

Robbo

Yes, store them as position 1-5 in DiseqC 1.2, as if you have motor. :)

????

Where are the motor settings? They must be well hidden as Ive never seen them

The idiots guide says some interesting things about motors and problems setting them up but doesnt say where to find the settings!

Is there no DiseqC 1.1 on a Dreambox?

Yes there is diseqc 1.1 on the dreambox, I am using it to control a 4way 1.1 switch which in turn is driving/selecting between two 4way 1.0 switches, not quite sure if the 8way switch mentioned is effectively two intergrated 4 ways or something else.Is there an internal diagram or anything?

Regards,
Ollie

Don't know if this is any use,
h**p://dreambox.sjerom.com/ (select lower option wavefrontier 200/5/3)

Ollie

Motor settings are:

menu > 6 > service searching > motor setup

But if your satellite configuration is not "many satellites via DISEqc rotor" you might not have that option (menu > 6 > satellite configuration).

It treats it (the switch) as a motor.

Config set to "many satellites via DISEqc rotor" in (menu > 6 > satellite configuration).

And absolutely no sign of "service searching" in menu 6. :D

Now Im totally confused!

Now Im totally confused!

:)

Press Menu on your remote, then press the 6 or scroll across to (6) setup on the OSD; the 2nd option down should be service searching.. if you use Gemini.

I switched images and finally found it. Now Ive managed to royally screw up my settings and at the moment only have 19E to play with despite having gone back to 4 port disecq!

I give up for tonight - I'll have another go with a clean image tomorrow and sort it all out from scratch.

There must be an absolute beginners guide to this somewhere - not the idiots guide on this site - it assumes far too much knowledge in places and is far too confusing....

This could be fun as I have 4 but am planning to get me a few more. :)

Yes Ollie I think you could be correct, partly.
In the link Rolf has posted, it looks like Table 1 is for Version1 with two 4-way swiches cascaded with a 2 way uncommitted. (Using Diseqc 1.1). Version 2 is like the Spaun one you have but is 8-way instead of 4.

When (IF!) I get it working I'll document the steps needed!

Using DiseqC 1.1, you won't get the 'wait while motor turning' messages :)

Thats good - that message was annoying me immensely! :D

Have you got it working now Ross?

PS. have uploaded that PDF, sure they won't mind at EMP-Centauri

PPS. Yes, perhaps for certain aspects of the Dreambox setup, we need a Complete Numpty Guide, with a very straightforward step by step, including the assumed knowledge. :)
