Motorised Dish Set up

Hello, I am new to the forums so I hope im in the right place.
In the good old days I used to have a motorised satellite system way back before sky digital arrived. After a lot of hesitation I decided to jump ship and go back to Sky by getting a minidish and Digibox.

Now at the moment I have SkyHD installed but in the new year I am thinking of purchasing a brand new motorised dish set up giving me access to vast amount of channels that I used to enjoy having before.

The thing is, do i need to have my SkyHD pointing at 28.2E all the time or is it ok to have the likes of a 1m Dish with 2LNBs so I can have SKYHD and another Digital Reciever working in tandem?

It would be great if some of you's could point me in the right direction.

Many Thanks

Oliver

Welcome to the forum Oliver.

The best solution would be to leave the skyHD receiver on it's own minidish for Astra28e and have a separate motor system for other receiver. Digiboxes do not like drifting away from 28e.

I would advise having the two systems completely separate, too many chances of clashes otherwise.

Thanks for all the quick replies, much appreciated! I had a feeling that the SkyHD had to be stationary so it could get updates from Sky and to keep my viewing card active or something. I have my mini dish mounted on a pole out the back, I dont think there is room for 2 dishes, I was thinking of a 1m Dish and maybe 2 or 3 separate LNB arms so I could recieve separate Satellite Packages from 19.2/13E, especially for sports, could that option be achieved?

Many Thanks

Oliver

Depends on budget and viewing requirements Oliver. A 90cm Toroidal dish would provide a good handful of satellites as will the cheaper Triax multi offset bracket option. Hotbird13e, 16e, 19e and 28e can easily be achieved using the Triax bracket option without breaking the bank.

That sounds a great option, I think I would like to have a choice of 3-4 satellites to start off with and then further down the line I could upgrade to a full blown motorised set up. I was thinking of having a decent HD Reciever as well as my SkyHD so I would have the best of both worlds of what the rest of Europe has to offer. Im interested in subscribing to another package like Sky Italia, can that be done outside of Italy?

Many Thanks

You have been a great help

Would it be possible for you to get a longer pole, put the little dish near the top, and the motorised dish a bit lower down?

Yeah that would be a great idea, I must look into it and maybe get an installer out to have a look, many thanks again for all your advice, greatly appreciated!

This is a great Forum btw, you have all been helpful.

Cheers

Oliver
