Moving into a new flat with a shared satellite connection

My Satellite Setup
As yet do not have a satellite receiver
My Location
UK
I've never had sky myself and looking at the box in there it has an old Sky symbol on it (the one they used before the digital switch over I think). I'm wondering if the connection for the analogue satellite is the same as that for the digital and if it would be worth me getting some kind of digital freeview receiver box? Would I be able to connect a digital box up to a connection that was previously used for analogue?
 
If the dish is still pointing at the pre-digital satellite, then all you will get with a modern receiver is a few German channels at most.
 
If it's a new flat or recent build, chances are it'll be a digital satellite system most probably with a digital terrestrial feed also.

Are you sure it's not just an older Sky Digital logo? Not sure there are many Sky branded analogue boxes in existence. (They just used to say Pace, Amstrad, etc with a model number)

Oh I see. That logo was used on the first Sky Digital boxes around 1998-1999.
 
Plug a receiver in and scan services. It'll be the easiest way to find out :)
