as title really just looking to see if i'm ordering the right parts for the job here goes
ive got a new sky dish and lnb installed on a single cable runnign to my dm800hd pvr sat box and i want to have 28.2 19 and 13 would i be right in saying that i need these components?

Triax TD 4 LNB Multiblock Holder
Satellite LNB 4 Way Diseqc Switch
Triax TD88 88cm Solid Satellite Dish
MTI AP8-XT2EBL 0.2dB Universal LNB x2

ive ony got 2 lnb's there becuase it think the new lnb does a fine job for hd material now?

please any tips or advice to the parts i'm looking at
and would the triax dish be mountable from the sky arm?
 
You can use the Sky LNB, but it isn't ideal, as it is designed for the Sky minidish, not the conventional offset dish.

Get a more substantial bracket for the TD88.
 
so i'd need to buy another lnb or could i use the sky lnb for one of the other sats?
so i'd need a bigger mount then? which one should i look at?
 
If it isn't good for one, then it won't be good for another.

hmm i would rather buy from 1 supplier what lnbs do you think i should get for hd material?
i know they shoould be atleast 0.2db
but you must have a knowledge of whats better or best?
any input would be greatly appreciated
 
They're all pretty similar in performance and you are looking to receive three very strong satellites, so it isn't critical. My personal favourites are the Invertos, they do a superb multisat range which includes offset bracket and DiSEqC switch as well..

Was simply using that item as an illustration, but do encourage our members to use our supporting advertisers, as they are the ones who keep us up and running to help people such as yourself.

There is no fundamental difference between what LNB you should use for HD as opposed to SD. Any advert which says "suitable for HD" or "HD ready" is superfluous - they are just fabricating a selling point (but not actually telling Porkies, either!).

AS rolfw indicates, all new LNBs have perfectly acceptable performance. The only really issue is getting the right ones to match the Dish, Sky LNB Feedhorns are matched to Dishes that are wider than they are tall and 40mm collar mount LNBs are matched to standard Dishes that are marginally taller than they are wide.
 
Sky LNBs on a TD78 work pretty well, especially good if you don't want to pay out for new ones.;) As the sats you want are strong, it is not critical. Some do require modification though, to strip off the lugs moulded onto the 40mm neck of the LNB.
 
Yes, the feedhorn mismatch is something that is more of a theoretical problem than a really practical one, except in marginal conditions.

But don't use a Stanley Knife for removing the surplus plastic!
