multiswitch default line out

Is there an automatic default selection on Multiswitches. eg if you have 9 in (eg astra1 + Hotbird) 8 out (or more) if a non-Diseqc box is connected to one of the lines does the line out default to one of the LNB inputs allowing reception of ALL transponders on that (default) LNB. If there are specific problems with certain models and can anybody suggest a good model.

AFAIK the reciever simply "sees" the multibox as a Diseqc switch so, whichever set of 4 inputs is marked as "A" is the default.
