Right I have bought a darkbox gds 7000 HD

in conjunction with my existing sky dish I can pick up hotbird 13e astra eurobird all fine. I can't however pick up euTelsat w1 or w2 or Thor.

Any ideas or should I trade my box for a dreambox
 
You can forget 10E & 16E on a sky dish - both require much bigger dishes. The satellite designations have changed as well



10E is now W2A

16E is now Sesat 1 W2M & Eurobird 16A :D
 
Unless its a zone 2 Sky dish, you stand very little chance of getting Thor, either.
 
Get yourself a decent 85cm or better for the aforementioned satellites :)
 
Ok so my take on this is that seeing as I can pick up hotbird and astra sufficiently from where I am I have put the box back on eBay.

What's the best HD box to go for. I had looked at a dm800 but I understand they overheat.
 
It's not the box but the small size of the satellite dish that's the problem. If you're not able to increase the size of the dish then, yes, the box may be overkill for what you want - depends on what other receivers you have I suppose.
 
No my issue is that although I can pick up hotbird I can't unlock it with the box I have.

I get excellent reception on hotbird eurobird and astra but my box doesn't do card sharing.
