Just Sharing This My Channel Master 1.8 project.

Currently can get about 8db on 7west MBC channels i have had 17.5db on sky news on 1west which surprised me

No I didn't even try mate. Still struggling with arc. I need to take dish off and pay attention to pole level . It's one or the other . Strong west's or strong easts
The pole needs to be dead plumb with no movement. Maybe more outriggers required??

I'll check after my DJ set mate

If you set up a camera with tripod at about 3m away and take two good images of the polarmount / back of the dish at far east/west travel, you should see if the top of the post has shifted.

no.....but i have spent all day reinforcing pole, and getting it as plumb as can be - didnt have time to do any arc tracking , but after testing tonight, currently the central sats are strong, but both sides after 19 degrees or so gets weak .....i hope to get it right tomorrow

i think motor angle needs decreasing slightly, and dish raising a little....

took me 2-3 days constant hours to get my mabo aluminium dish tracking the arc correctly, thats why i have not bothered to start all over again with my cm 1.8m lol lol

and heres a question really would it be worth setting up the cm 1.8m motorised as in would there much of a boost in signals compared to the mabo 1.85m dish v the motorised 1.8m cm on ku band?.i don,t there would be really,i stand corrected.................................
i know the cm 1.8m is a far better dish but does that bring better results db signal than the mabo 1.85m ??

Personally, I am not sure if it is worth the bother unless the parabolic profile is out of shape on the mabo 1.85m dish.

You could motorise the CM 1.8m on C-Band as dual axis with an elevation/declination actuator as well as the Azimuth actuator.
There would be no worries about a super accurate arc, just use the dual axis actuators for peaking maximum signal levels.

C-Band is less crtitical than Ku-Band anyway so any auld arc will be OK and the dual axis actuators can squeeze the juice.

Put both up, use the Mabo for C band and the Channel Master for Ku and Ka.

You know you want to.

evening all - a little update.

so i spent most of yesterday levelling the pole, and making it more sturdy. when i finished the pole was as true as can be, HOWEVER - once that polar mount goes on, theres a slight gap and once that dish goes on, that gap gets closed due to the dish load - so all the hard work on pole goes out the window.

spent a good while today trying to track arc - however, although it is tracking, but im still getting lower east signals than expected.

im getting nice signals on 1w, 3w, 7w, 30w (18db) - but moving over to east, its not as good as my 1.2m

im getting average db's on rai for instance, like 14db on Rai 1 HD - it should be much higher...however, whatever i do to increase the east it naffs up the west - in my experience, this isnt a tuning issue this is a levelling issue. you may disagree....it might be, i get the feeling it isnt to....it shouldnt be this diffciult.

is the dish weight pulling things forward, and skewing the arc....im at a loss, but not too fussed as the 1.2m is tracking easterns nicely - and the west is where the cband stuff is when i start tinkering with that - and ive currently got that tuned in ok.
