My first toroidal 90 multi dish install with 20 lnbs

Rima has hit the nail on the head. You need to tune for best signal on 19E, with the LNB at the dead centre of the guide bar. Until you find that satellite and optimize don't do anything else.

at my inlaws now so some pictures for you tomorrow.

here is what we did.

Put up the dish - picture to follow.
kept it as angle 90 - not changes any on the angle.
we added just one lnb smart single to cable and then to the back of a S9 and 14"tv
and then just moved it left and right to see if we could get something - nothing
we then took the wire off and put on a cheapo beeper and no luck with that either.

where I think I goinh wrong is where tpo point it.
used the next doors dish as a guide
dishpointer is good but unless at the same time - the grenn line is good but so rough, it did not help as the pic is about 5 years old.

so whats the easiest plan of action to take

nothing else added no switches etc. - just one plain smart single lnb

And the subreflector is mounted correctly ? The small drainhole downwards.
It's better if you use the original plastic LNB holders on the original LNB guide untill you have aligned your dish.
Some pictures of the dish will help us a lot.
 
It is not easy to catch black cat in completely dark room, especially if cat is not there!
You are trying to find Astra 19,2*E with sat receiver which is new and you have not seen any signals on it. And who knows what kind of mistakes else you are making there. By making several mistakes in the process the result will always be “0”. So, to eliminate your mistakes with receiver, you better take it to your friend’s house and try to connect it to his sat-antenna and his TV. When you get an idea how receiver locks signals and receiver starts to show TV channels, than bring receiver back home and continue to adjust T90. Another option is to bring another receiver (maybe you have your old one) to your home and connect it to T90.
Catching your first satellite with T90 (same applies to any offset antenna): Point T90 approximately towards satellite but make Elevation much lower and Azimuth much Eastern and then slowly start to move antenna West at the same time observe what is going on on TV screen. When antenna is in most-West position and there where no signals, no problem, change Elevation angle little bit up and start to move antenna from W to E, and than again and again till you get signal. Do movements slowly, you have all weekend ahead.
 
top guidance guys, I shall recheck all the fixings first, i might be a little cheeky and stick one of the original sky leads into next doors dish. As u can see from the earlier pics their dish is right next to us.

The S9 should work as when we got it we had hooked it to our orignal sky dish and picked up 28 what it was set on straight away via the anneta section which showed us the quality and strength of the signals. The we were getting 80s and 60-70s for each. This time used 45 and 10 for quality and intensity.

recheck all fixings
reset and check scew is set at 90
turn dish as far east as poss - adding lnb to 0 and then moving
nothing gained then redo back to east but after increasing angle by a couple of mms.
repeat, repeat until there is movement in singal bars

but do I start at 90 or less?

I knew it was going to take a while, no luck first time.

only prob is i am in and out of house all week, so will be a hour a day job and i did my hamstring in playing footie. so ladder work is limited hence cousin helpping.

its gonna take a while

What do you mean "start at 90" If you meant Skew, than it does not matter 90 or 80, just any. Remember step-by-step instruction I gave to you couple of weeks ago?
And nobody told that process will be quick... take your time.
 
yes the skew is set at 90 - is that a standard setting

yes is gonna take time - needs a good whole day to start things off.
 
For central LNB it does not matter what skew is, just forget that you have skew.

Right guys

Back again here is the latest pictures.

The first one was the original setup
2nd - mount cut in half and 12" tk
3rd new setup about 6-8 bricks down
4th bar - taken original rods off and brought new 2m 8mm rod.

comments please and the new bar can you check fixings do they need to be lower or the 4 fixed fixings are ok height for the bar to be thread through

no lnb scanning yet but will do as discussed 19 on 0

out of interest which sat is better for fta channels qty for english films and sport - cant decide which to stick a twin on

I see you have put new wall-mount. I like this type of brackets, with that you can make pole really plumb.

Yes its a 12" tk mount and the pole is the original pole from the setup but cut in half with a hacksaw.

damn I just send the five of them to my uncle for his wave 55 setup - another thread on that.

Any one know the rough sizes they should be, if not whats difference does it make.

I think someone else on the pics site - I think on your thread - has a the mod pole with the same type of setup - I tried to get as close as that as poss.

Would it affect the angle and nothing else?

As it stands I have two predrilled holes and I can use any - At the moment I am adding a new stronger rod I brought from a diy store today. It will be cut from 2M to just over 4ft. I think the bar is about 1m so will just overshoot that by a few cms each side.

Go back and read Hakon's thread. It explains in detail what to do so no point going over it again. The basics are use the stock holders to align and skew the dish and then switch to the custom holders. If you don't do that your holders will end up above or below the point of perfect focus and the dish won't perform at its maximum efficiency.
 
T-90 plastic LNB holder is not the same as the T-55.

Nightmare - did not know that - I just send them as they were useless to me. I did not like the plastic look of them.

I better go back through the threads and see if anyone can roughly measure out what ht the lnb stick above the original bar. The metal fixing rasie the rod a little but the lnb holder can be moved up and down the lnb holder fixers. So it should work out the same ht of the original black plastic piece. The plastic holder are at a certain ht - anyone know roughly - I am guess a couple of cms.
 
Just had a quick check at hakon's thread again and the first message - phot 2 - the bar with all the holders and rod.

Thats the same setup I have aimed to get as I know if you guys got it to work - I should get the same results.

H - do you know how many mms you have rasied the lnb holders from the rod - it looks like they are about a 1/4 raised

Mine will be around the same.
 
Do not worry about millimeters locating additional bar, anyway you will tune each LNB to maximal signal from satellites.
I will tell you one story about focal line of my T90: After several moves I discovered that I get maximum signal on one side of antenna when LNBs are located little bit higher than on opposite side of LNB-bar (upper picture), so by adding some spacer ( I used M6 nut) between reflector and its holder I made focal line parallel to LNB rail (lower picture). I mean, that it is possible, if necessary, to adjust position of focal line of T90. But that does not mean that everybody should start to make those adjustments. That was purely from experience I have, I hope nobody else will need those adjustments at all.

When i make my setup i first use the plastic holder to find the most sat on the LNB giude. You can see the marks on the LNB guide. After that i had half the job done , i now know where the sat will be at the guide, just the fun job to do finetuning each LNB in there new holders.
I can still use the original LNB holders even when the new guide is at place.
I have no idea how many mm high the holders are at the new guide , but i did use the original to place the new one i nearly same hight and angle.
And the LNB that are at the far east or west are some mm higer up in there holders, and that was the meaning with the hole project that they could to be more fine tuned,each LNB.

I think you have created a small problem for your self. You dont know where the azimuth of the dish shall be not the elevationen not the angle of the LNB etc. You are working like a blind right now.Get back the plastic holders and tune your dish with these , you need at least 3 of them.
