That was easy: Company sold out used (but actually look like new) dishes, and all the mountings where completely new. They also sell even cheaper dishes, but those where really used ones.

I was up getting the tk's on the the m8 bolt snpped and the wall plugs were no use.

T's up, but no more bolts or plugs left

Nice setup, 20 LNB’s wow, that’s going to be fun lining up, at least you have a window next to it so you can watch the receiver and TV while tweaking the dish and LNB’s.
I also hope your good friends with your neighbor next door as it looks like his dish might be looking at your LNB’s that will be on that side of the dish, spurious LO radiation from you may spoil that football game he might want to watch. (Yes kids it has happened)

But with good quality LNB's and coax (well grounded) that might not happen.
 
2 Terryl: Author already changed his level of ambition and instead of 20 there are only 16 in plan (which is basically not so bad anyway).

I don't get what your point is here. There is only the same chance of him giving interference to his neighbour as someone using a conventional parabolic dish, which is probably more unlikely than winning the lottery considering it is just an Rx device.

in swindon at the moment, got to go to a wedding tomorrow.

Yip the m8 snapped in half as I was using the rachet to tighten it. I have no idea how but half of it was in the wall and rest with me. A real pain

So one T is up and now the K has to wait as there is 3 holes and only 1 coach screw left. The wall plugs must of been out. I used M8 x 80mm - need to recheck the wall plugs again as they must of been wrong.

That happened when the diy places closed - I packed it up for the day.

But I did manage to hacksaw the original mount with a trusty 150cm hacksaw. Dont ask how long it took. I was meant to use a angle ginder yesterday, but my cousin failed to show up with it.

The 90 is back to normal settings and all screws are retighten for the next big push.

Cant believe the screw just snapped in two, I would of had the dish up and photo on here.

Only photo I got today was the bare was all marked up.

Anyway more to follow.

I have smart gold tit'n lnbs 16xsingle and 2xtwins - just to recap - 20 was the magic number, but first things first - get that dish back up and get 19E tuned up at 0. Will get 16 up and then go from there (I should say as many as I can).

Next door - talking again, I moved the dish down a few feet from the top of the house. Was not too worried at the start, but you never know a 1.1m x 1m monster in black/grey colour looking down at you - not exactly a deck chair and sipping Pimms moment.

But all well on that front - not put any wire up, that could change things again.

BUT last few days have being spent networking the house. A couple of switch boxes and a lot of external cat wire.

Basically 2 wires from one room going into 2 other rooms exsisting old holes in the wall.

1 main box broadband - from there - 1 tplink 8 switch - will power the openbox s9 and laptop. then another wire into a 24 siwtch which will power a laptop and xtrend 5000 and bluray and tv - and anything else I can find.
lastly the last 24 switch will hook up to the broadband.

That was thursday and friday's job. A nightmare as we did the cat boxes ourselves.

Man I thought putting up a sat was easy.

Did you mark the drill bit to be certain you had an 80mm deep hole?

I thought I did, that's why its another trip to store to pick up new screws and plugs, when I redo them, I will recheck the holes

It is not just an RX device, the LNB has a local oscillator in it and amps to get the "L" band signal down the coax to the receiver, on poorly designed and poorly shielded LNB's this signal; can radiate with enough signal strength to be picked up by a second dish, cheap coax can do the same thing.

That dish is pointing at a satellite that signal wise is in the pico-watt range (after it goes 22,500 miles) the LO runs in the micro-watt range.

This is how (in the states) they find some of the pirate satellite receivers, park a van in front of the house one night, point a hi-gain antenna at your dish and look at the "L" band signals, if your on subbed channels and you not on their customer list you get a knock at the door.

This is why I keep the spacing between dishes so that one can't see the others LNB(s).

Sorry, I can't find the post that asked about interference to his next-door-neighbour's satellite dish. And what makes you think a T90 would be any more problematic in that respect than any other dish?
 
There wasn't a post about interference, I brought that up due to where the T90 dish is mounted, out in front (by the looks of it in the photos) of the other one.

You throw 20 LNB's on that thing and there will be some hanging out the sides........Far enough out so that the other dish MAY pick something up........And I say may, not that it will....

What is coming down from the LNB is a block, i.e. the whole band in one polarity. From that how would anyone tell what transponder your receiver is tuned to?

Hi Guys

2nd attempt and the dish is up - I am going to stick some photos on shortly.

I can't get a signal from the lnbs.

I have tried moving the dish to many positions, but no luck same with moving the lnbs left to right of the bar.

How do I work out angle or elevation to get a signal

dishpointer is roughly 27.3 - but how do you get the dish to angle 27.3 or 27 - having a blonde moment on this and nothing works.

Moving the dish from left to right was not a problem, but really need to find out how to get the dish horizontal and then get to 27angle.

Any help

When you say 27.3 is that for elevation of your central LNB? What type of meter (if any) are you using? Recheck the connections on both ends of the flylead you are using for alignment and try not to move the dish too quickly as you may be going past the satellite before the signal pops up. Did you set it up at ground level first? If so, I can't see it being very far out.
 
Hi Guys

I put in all the figures in satlexx and that came up with 26.95 and that was based on 20.6E being as the centre.
Latitude: 51.5764° N (51° 34' 35") Longitude: -3.2422° E (3° 14' 31")

I used 42E and 0.8W - I was trying to get close to 19E as possible.

Did not set anything on the grounds as I dont have any setup on ground.

I am using a cheap sat beeper - which beeps but no signal what so ever on the S9 - it seems to be stationary on 45 and 10 on the signal strength.

We basically just moved the dish up and down a few times to get a rough angle - using next doors sky dish as a guide.

Then moved one lnb along the diy arm to see if any signal was obtain. As a double check my cousin flicked through sat channels to check signal strenght and nothing moved for any of the sats. It struck to 45 and 10 singal strenght.

Wondered if something is wrong with the satboxS9 or the setup.

Checked the wires aswell but seemed to be ok as we got a few beeps but nothing on the signal strenght.
 
Please dont tell me you have the down lead you are using routed through the DiSEqC switch as this just adds to the hassle of first setup.
 
Godzillafan! Put LNB for 19*E directly in the middle of rail and than moving T90 horizontally (Azimuth) and vertically (Elevation) catch satellite. Do not move any LNBs on the rail and do not change Skew of antenna. Catching signal of 19*E will be first step of tinning, without that you can not go ahead.
Edit: And during this first and very important step you better avoid diseqs by connecting LNB directly to receiver.
