If the 10/1 switch is operated at pure diseqc 1.1, adding (up to 10) diseqc 1.0 switches doesn't require diseqc repeat. So I don't see a problem from the diseqc repeat angle?

greetz,

I tried that a couple of years ago, but the Opticum switch didn't want to "play ball" (long thread about that in 2016, to which you contributed).

@Ghostleader

Thanks for the info and the pics, but I think I'll "pass" on slimline LNBs for the moment as I have worked out that I can do what I need by spreading normal 40mm LNBs across several dishes.

BTW: the SABS slimline one that I ordered came today, but turned out to be very old (from the state of the box) and totally dead (confirmed by my sat meter and substitution by a normal one)! The ebay seller says I have to pay the return postage, but I have told him that either he pays up or I open an ebay "case" because I have a cast iron case of a faulty DOA item:angry:.

Yes mate there's some fly b@$tards on there that will try that shit in regards to returns, I had that with a phone I had bought as a brand new item, was not as described as it had a horribly botched custom ROM and the knobend was trying to get me via the eBay messages system to return it out my own pocket and to a different mailing address than the one listed on the originally sent package, I just went through to opening a case against the seller straight away, after certain time guidelines eBay will issue you with a return mailing slip to print off from themselves so your not out of pocket and I take it they just recoup the money from the seller who is being shady as shit in the first place.

Yes, that's right, and you did, but I still have a handful of normal 40mm LNBs that work fine, and so I'm using one of those as that slimline one was an "experiment" - which didn't work out, as noted above, and I'm not inclined to go any further in that direction ATM.!

As I said, merely a potential "experiment" as I have never played with slimline LNBs.

Got a refund from the ebay seller of that slim LNB with a message to the effect that he couldn't be bothered to contest the claim "for a few quid" - but still repeating that his adds say "returns are at buyers' cost".

Well at least that's your money back in mate, AVforums had a thread where all the people who sold stuff on eBay were complaining about the buyers on there being chancers and plain con artists, I think the reality is there's "wrong un's" on both sides of the fence, spoiling it for every other decent honest people such as myself and you ect.

Too true, but rarely actually had a problem - except a couple of Far Eastern sellers who offered me refunds if I gave them "good feedback", which I did not because the products were "junk" and I would not want anyone to buy those based on "recommendations" from me!

That is how some unscrupulous dealers keep their inflated margins. If an item is faulty (and can be proven to be) then return postage should not be the buyers concern.

A few years ago I bought a multi-LNB bracket on eBay from a seller that sold quite a bit of satellite TV stuff whose feedback was very good (certainly over 99%). I bought the same bracket from another eBay seller in the past so I knew what to expect. However when the package came, I noticed that the nuts & bolts supposed to come with it were missing so I emailed the seller who replied back saying that they check everything before posting it out and that it couldn't have been them that left the bolts missing.

What they didn't know was that after I opened the envelope and noticed the missing pieces, I photographed all the items that came in the package that were still sealed in their plastic packaging, noting that the photo they had on their page for selling the bracket had the nuts & bolts in the same package as the metal bracket and compared it to my photos which showed the items missing, plus close ups to show the packaging was sealed & hadn't been tampered with. So I sent these images on to the seller, with a reply exclaiming that he was "at a loss" as to how this happened and that he would resolve it ASAP. A couple of hours later he wanted me to send back the items so he could post out a new package for whatever reason, until he quickly sent me another email saying that he'd just post me the missing items instead.

The lesson? Always check where possible that you have all bits and pieces for the items that you buy before you open any of them that comes in sealed packaging.

Probably had similar problems in the past, and that's very good advice.

In my case, there was nothing in the small package except the LNB box, which looked old and "battered", although unopended, and so I was immediately "suspicious" - which turned out to be well-justified when the LNB proved to be completely dead when I tried to use it:rolleyes:.

Ts + Cs from a 'source'.

We regret that we cannot exchange a product once the it is used except where the product has no phyiscal external damage we recommend that until you have decided to keep your purchase you treat the product as borrowed new equipment , and we can't exchange product where a warranty seal has been tampered with or where the product shows obvious signs of having been mis-used. e.g. excessively dirty or screws having been removed we can exchange the product if it was incorrectly supplied by us initially. or where you have changed your mind according to the 7 day rule referred to above but reserve the right to apply a handling charge of not less than 5 GBP per item not more than 30 GBP per item and usually 10% of the goods value before VAT, this charge will cover administration and restocking charge and subsequent loss by us caused by grading of the returned stock - leading to our selling the item at a lower price than new stock, plus the cost of carriage.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your existing equipment is compatable with product that you buy from us, computer hardware and software meet the system requirements stated for each product. As soon as we have delivered

They are the current Gibertini and Stab supplier to the UK.

Brexit could filter out the middlemen that do absolutely F.A. to the useful trading within the EU..

Sounds like a total BS supplier - be interested to know more (so that I can avoid that supplier!)!

There, I might well disagree with you:rolleyes:
