All my macro shots are of my metal detecting finds, here is the coin I found today with a little clean, I know theres room for improvement but I am getting better :-).

Felt a bit guilty for neglecting my camera, so shot a Blue tit out of the window this morning. :)
Scruffy little fella but great photos.

Xenotime-(Y) Zircon.jpg

My macro forte is minerals,, this is a quite rare epitaxial crystal intergrowth of zircon ( light meat red ) and xenotime-Y ( yellow ) the whole intergrowth size is max ~2mm, BTW self found.

" Camera canon G12 daylight mini tripod macro mode 10 second timer delay. "

Great pictures, I should use my tripod and timer delay more often, it can make all the difference as you will know better than me :-).

I wish I would have set it up today with the hobby, but I did not want to hang around for two long, I might pop and have another go some time in the near future.

Hi martin-f

Yes well worth the extra effort for better pic quality, sometimes I even use the timer delay with an electronic ( cable ) shutter release.
Also background colour helps.
Hope this helps.

Most of my macro shots will be in the field on live subjects, often hand held, so timer delay won't be feasible, I do use a remote trigger though for tripod shots, which enables a much smaller aperture for better depth of field.

last week I read an article about the decline in some butterfly
species. So I went into the garden to see what we had.
As it turns out not a lot.Plenty of cabbage whites,a few brown ones
and a light brown one .All I have seen today are loads of cabbage whites.
and a brown one.

We've got two large Buddleias, and they are awash with Butterflies:

Here is SWMBOs species list:

Tortoiseshell
Peacock
Comma
Cabbage White
Small Copper
Painted Lady

Sadly, unlike Pete, no Red Admirals.

My wife saw a squirrel this morning on the feeders and in the bird table, if he starts coming on a regular basis I will set him an obstacle course up :-),

Heres a dove on top of my 1.2.
