I don't know Remlap. My Gibby gives a stonking signal on 4.8e, an to be honest i can do Wales in about 40 Mins so I'm not that far away from it.

Which bit of Wales is he in?

Its usually Ok here except for when its really chucks it down with rain. I can't remember the last time i lost the signal off 4A to be honest. Its foggy as you like here which isn't going to help the signal much, although its still quite good. It usually sits around the high 60s, to low 70s SNR wise.

The Gigablue will usually work with the SNR at about 35-37% before it starts to break up so the signal is well above the digital cliff edge.

The T-Home stuff on 4w usually sits about 38-39% so i know the limits of the receivers tuner. Any lower than about 35% and its unwatchable.

Yeah very similar levels, from what I've seen the NRK is one of the strongest transponders on 4A and RTR one is the weakest for me (One of the only transponders with anything clear).

Same for 4W as well

Maybe I'm to fussy, just checking my setup is good really :).

He's just north of Newport, about 30km directly north from where I am as the crow flies. I get a pretty good signal on all Nordic transponders except some HD ones and SES-5 on my Penta 85cm. The only time I lose signal is when it's chucking down hard with rain. The weakest one for me is, like remlap, RTR TP (11919H) where at its worst it can get down to around 43% SNR on my Uno in the evenings with the highest being 52% during the day (need 35% for a stable picture).

I've also installed 1m dishes just west of Cardiff and the signal was acceptable. A good 1m Gibby should give good results there.

I'm getting an SNR of 58% at the moment in quite heavy fog. Is that the sorts of levels you get Remlap?

Which sort of LNB are you using. I'm just testing out a Fracarro one from the UX-TW Line range at the moment. Its not to bad at all :D

Yep very similar, LNB is a Technomate TM4, think I'd do better with a Inverto Black? used to get slightly better with an Invacom Dual but that gave up on me last autumn.

Installed the dish today. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. The signals seems to be weaker across the board than on my Penta 85 dish. MBC on 26E were breaking up badly, whereas mine, while on the limit, is pretty stable. However, I am placing pretty much all of the blame on the CDTronix freebie LNB - I guessing these are not the best. I didn't have another one on me to try so we've ordered a Black Ultra to try. The weather left quite a lot to be desired so that probably took some of the signal away as well.

From experience the BU made a reasonable improvement over the Gold 0.1dB I got when I purchased my 1m Gib. One oddity I never did get to the bottom of was the focal point changed considerably between satellites, not a problem on a fixed instal of course but it's another benefit of using a BU.

Could also be worth stringing the dish, being aluminium there's a chance it's been slightly warped.

Very unlikely.

You might get a few Channels from 26E with it aligned to 26E and you might get a few Channels from 7W (The new Bird only) with it aligned to 7W, but that's it (And you most definitely won't get anything from the older Nilesat Birds).

I assume you want to use the same Dish for both? No chance at all with a multi-LNB arrangement.

I suspect you are after Football, in which case any Channels you might fortuitously get with a perfectly aligned dish won't be carrying it:

But you need to provide more info about your requirements before we can give practical advice - and when you've done that, we will move these Posts to a new Thread rather than continuing to hijack this one.

I didn't think of that. It seems rather unlikely as it's a brand new dish and it was in its original packaging. I like Gibby's bracketry - so much better than the adjuster of evil on Triax 1m dishes. Was surprised how light the dish was. The 1.2m I had must have weighed twice that.

CJ. This is going a bit off topic but I have a 1M Gibi centered on 7°W and a Penta 85 centered on 5°E, both using Black Ultra's. At some point (maybe next week) I'll swing the Penta round and do some comparison tests on 7°W. I know the Penta has engendered 'marmite' types of opinion on here of late, though I actually like the design. I'll start a new thread with the results when I get them....
