ive made internet sharing through the wireless modem,
what sttings do i need to input on the mac ethernet menu
and what settings do i need to place in the dreambox settings

been researching for days and have been trying to figure out,all settings ive tried ive tried to download a chess game on the dreambox to check if internet is working and it just hangs saying waiting, also the internet no longer works on the mac if i plug in the ethernet port in the dreambox,
any help is much appreciated recently moved to ibiza and the mrs is moaning her ass off, thanks for any help

firstly, does your router see your mac AND your dreambox?

hi im not using a router, im just using a wifi usb modem to pick up my wireless connection, my router is connected upstairs , i need to shae my internet connection for the dreambox throught the mac via ethernet thanks for your help

Stop being so impatient - you only asked your first question an hour ago. Many of the members on the forum are enjoying the Christmas holiday with their families and not spending much time on the forum atm. Give it a few days and things should start getting back to normal with more folk around.

hi sorry for my impatience just really want to get this dreambox up and running, need to relax maybe :)
new to the forum and didnt want to offend anybody!
thanks for any help and i will learn to relax a bit thx

:D Im sure all DB owners have had similar frustrations at one time or another - I know I did whwn I bought my 7020 a few years ago.

What have I told you about being impatient?? Normally we say leave it at least a fortnight before asking again. SImply because many folks only log into the forum once a week or so.

If you keep on asking over and over you will just make a nuisance of yourself.

Your mac will not share the internet, unless the mac is connected to your router using the eithernet port and you have created your own network using airport.

Its best to connect your dreambox to the router so that the mac can connect to it by going into finder then pressing apple K or "connect to server" - browse or input the IP address of the dreambox and hey presto all should be good
go to your router settings - thats why I asked in the first place

your mac needs to be connected to the router, as does your dreambox

type the address 192.168.0.1 in your browser and you should be able to talk to your router.

you should see under connected devices or something similar the IP addresses

your mac could be on 192.168.0.2 and the dreambox on 192.168.0.3

now, if you have your dreambox connected, make sure both your mac and box can communicate via the router

if this does not work, write again precisely how everything is connected in a simple manner. I work with a tech nerd and have learnt half the problems we encounter is that I dont communicate to him properly what the issues are!

- internet connection
- router connected to it

- mac connects to router via wifi or eithernet cable
- dreambox connects to router via wifi or eithernet cable

if none of the above its difficult to achieve :)

hi thenks for the reply really appreciate it
this is my setup.

wireless usb modem plugged into mac,

dreambox plugged into mac via ethernet port.

my router is upstairs so cant plug dreambox in to the router directly.

i was wondering if i can share the wifi signal im getting from usb modem to my dreambox via ethernet.

i know it is possible as i can connect my xbox 360 via ethernet and share the wireless connection,

so the xbox shares connection and i can get online on the xbox.
(might be different with dreambox)

i just need the settings i should key in the ethernet menu on the mac and the network settings on the dreambox,

im reallyu stuck as to whiat to do,

how can i tell if the dreambox is connected to the internet , i tried to download a game and it says waiting, if i can figure this problem out would trying to download a game show me im connected or is there an easier way to see if i have internet connection working
thx so much
happy new year also

Why don't you buy a wireless 'thingy' for your Dreambox.

The Linksys Wireless ethernet bridge for example.

hi mate getting something from ibiza is nil impossible mate, thats why i need to get this soughted the old fashioned way, any advice?

I think there is an internet sharing setup for Windows, and with an extra network port on computer sharing an internet connection is possible. I've not set it up, but seen someone do it on a PC. On the Mac, I don't know, I would assume so.
