1. No-one yet has any realistic knowledge of the fringe footprint for 2E, but it is likely to be brutal.

2. Phasing an array of dishes is essentially impossible for your purposes

3. Do your own Research.

summery of all information i need to know:-

1-needed sat dish size for Astra 2a/2b/2c when Astra 2e is launched 2013.

2-i divided the the reflecting area of a 5 meter dish over the reflecting area of a 2.4 meter dish the answer was approximately 4 , so i should be able to get the signal by 4 2.4 meter dish's or not ,please talk about the possibilities

3-the online stores selling feed horns.

that's all

1) Nobody can answer 1 as no-one will know the dish requirements of 2E until she goes into service - anyway 2F is the first new bird due in service mid/late 2012

2) You cant multiplex satellite dishes together - its one big one or nothing.

3) Do your own research

Nobody can say - even SES won't have all that Data until well after the In-Service date. There is no realistic predictive model you can use.

Stick a finger in the air - that's as useful as anything else.

But, to be serious, what you are asking is simply not possible. On the other hand, in the spirit of a hobby Forum, perhaps as you are going to be in a position to determine empirical data yourself in a couple of years, you might feed that back to us for the benefit of the other Members?

Unfortunately the combining of signals from multiple dishes, whilst being theoretically possible as in phased arrays like those used for listening for deep space signals, it would be very difficult and prohibitively expensive for a hobby system. Do a forum search for "phased array", several threads will come up discussing the subject.

Lots of online stores sell feedhorns, but you really need to know which dish you are using, so that you can find the feedhorn which best matches it.

ok
my theory is to position 4 240 cm dishes to 28.2E with high accuracy and then connecting them with Inverto Black Pro Quattro flange LNB then i have four cables off each dish.
having tied similar polarities together (all V/L together ...etc) i should have signal strength near to that of a 5 meter dish.

if this work i will add more dishes when Astra 2E is launched.

So is this possible or partially possible?

Guess - anything you come up with will be equally as valid as anything we do because any numbers 2 years before launch will be nothing but guesswork.

You dont get it do you??

Its not possible at a hobby level. If you had a military budget and a couple of laboratories worth of staff working for you you might get it working in a couple of months

FORGET IT

Yes it is theoretically possibly. But in practice you have great problems.

Your first problem is to make sure that the the local oscillators in the LNBs are at the same frequency and remain so, and in phase, as temperature and time alter. Then you need to make sure that the connecting cables are accurate to millimetre lengths to avoid phase cancellation.

Completely impractical in reality especially with the wide day/night temperature variations experienced in the Middle East. You could of course start dabbling in cryogenic cooling methods for the lnb's to create a stable system but as mentioned a military budget would be required.

I'd Probably say a feedhorn made by Inverto may be a good one to look at :-lmao
