I am getting a little bored with the Uno I have... so was thinking of upgrading. But, to what? Any Linux receiver I get (which would be Solo2) is going to be more or less the same. Or is it? Yes, it will be quicker, but I am told the tuner sensitivity is worse than Uno's and I will not use the second tuner input - at least not now.

So, is it even worth it? Any other nice enthusiasts receivers out there? I don't want a TM5402 M3 and its clones as I hear they are not a patch on the old ones, like the F15, which I have.

Maybe a Skybox or whatever it's called these days...? Just for scanning...

Not sure...

Ideas?

Sadly there is no upgraded receiver atm worth bothering with most of the so called new receivers are revamp's of older receiver hardware/software by the Chinese with cheaper build parts :(

No one seems prepared to write new receiver program software able to display the latest video formats used by satellite broadcasters today:-
16APSK/32APSK/ACM/VCM/MIS Support CCM, VCM and ACM mode,Multi-Stream,4:2:2
the Korean's & Japanese used to keep up with the latest technology now it is just cheap plug in & play boxes that dominate the market:eek:

Vu-Duo ect is over 4 years old, the TM5302HD is a re vamp of the old SpiderboxHD9000 hardware, the Gigablue is a revamp of Linux by the Chinese ect ect,

What we need is a receiver based on:-
TBS6925 PCI-E DVB-S2 Professional PCTV Tuner Card for Satellite Feed Hunting :)

If you're bored with the Uno you might as well pack up the hobby. Personally, I'm going to get a Solo2 and from people I know who have them there have been no complaints about sensitivity.

If it's just for scanning then you cannot go wrong with an X2 Premium, minimal cost and a very fast blind scan and an extremely sensitive tuner.

Seriously? I shall ignore this comment.

Yeah, a cheapo box such as X2 Premium might be the way to go. The Uno is just as sensitive as the eXpress card I have and even the F15 so no point replacing it... But good to complement it.

CJ, what I am saying is all the STBs you are looking can only do less. And if there is something you can't do with the Uno, just write it yourself.

To be honest, I am not sure what I am looking for. Solo2 has a faster processor that makes it super whizzy and adds features such as transcoding on the fly. But other than that....? Not sure what I'll be gaining...

Just want a different receiver to play with..
