New to Dreambox and linux based receivers

hi people

i have ordered a new dreambox dm800 hd reciever and it will be delivered sometime this week

i have been reading alot about dreambox recievers and i couldnt build up alot of knowledge .. im that kind of person who learns things by doing them practicaly

i need to know some basics

i've read about flashing the dreambox .. does it have to be done before the first use .. does the box come ready with any kind of software?

what gemni or enigma or nabilo or whatever software do u recommend

what other basics or fundementals do i need to know or have to be done

i have also read about an idiots guide but i couldnt find the topic/link .. i'd be greatfull if you provide me with the link

It comes with a standard image but it offers very limited capabilities.
what gemni or enigma or nabilo or whatever software do u recommend
No doubt, Nabilo blackhole is by far the best image
what other basics or fundementals do i need to know or have to be done
Connecting it to a router is not essential, but very very very highly recommended.

Have a good read, for at least a week. Don't expect to know it well within 3 months , there's a lot to learn.
 
Hi!

You don´t need to flash it before you use it. It is delivered with software but this software is a bit boring and doesn´t give you much opportunities.
Out of the two images you mentioned Gemini is the one I prefer. You can also try Peter Pan and PLi.

If you subscribe to any channels you don’t need to know much more but if you are planning to use the dreambox in a more “one the edge of the law” way you need some more knowledge. For this you should read what you find in the link above.
