New (to me!) feature on Google Maps

I've just been using Google maps and I noticed a new button called Traffic.

It does just what it says on the tin. Click it and it'll show a representation of the traffic spped on motorways and a few selected A roads (most within London naturally).

I'm sure it wasn't there a week ago but it looks very useful.
 
It's been on Google Earth since late last year, as that's when I first noticed it. It does lead to some strange readings though, as I have found that sometimes when you click on an icon to show the speed it can display over 120mph. (Unless it's Jeremy Clarkson doing a road test!!)
 
Talking with some friends this evening and one said that it's been there for a year!

Surely I can't have been that dozy?
