I don't recall ever setting it. I think it's OTT. No manual that I know of, which is a shame because there are so many hidden functions in the image that you find by accident.

I found one of them and look whats its done! :-lmao

Should have put a hard drive in it. :-rofl2

Hope it's not recording to the flash.

If it is the firmware it is pretty simple to reflash. Once you get the image working how you like you can store a copy and if you ever corrupt it you can wind it back to your working version.

I had to turn it off at the back to get summat back, and looks like its corrupted the firmware as Im getting these screens alternating every few seconds. Its unresponsive to rcu button presses again.

You probably got hold of an MS Windows receiver and not a Linux one! :D

Firstly download Blackhole and put it on the usb stick and then put a proper bit of software on your Vu+ Duo :-righton

I could never get on with VIX, i didn't like the look or feel of it. I also found it unreliable on my box after only 24hrs of testing. The emus wouldn't stay up for more than 12 hours no matter what i did and it green screened more than a few times :-ohcrap

I put the lastest blackhole back on it and the emus are still running 6 days after i left it .

I also think Blackhole looks better than VIX and has more nice toys available for it

I find Blackhole ultra reliable and a lot easier to use than VIX

Give it a Try Analoguesat. I'm more than happy to help you with it if you get stuck.

It even works with DVB-T :D

I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T USB 2. Its a bit old but it performs brilliantly, It shows a bit of a Bit error rate reading on some of the channels on the QAM64 Muxs but other than that, no picture breakup at all :D

I will get round to updating it eventually as it doesn't seem to see the HD channels :-ohcrap

Compared to the Dreambox 800 and 8000 no i don't think they are over priced.

Your getting a lot more for your money than you ever would off Dream Multimedia.

I used to be an avid fan of Dream Multimedia boxes until they started playing their dirtytricks and ripping people off in general.

You should be ashamed of yourself :-lol

No! What are you comparing them to that is better priced and has all the same functions?

Is this just personal preference? I'm using VIX and it works fine for me. I haven't had a green screens for ages and no emu problems. It seems a lot more stable since version 2 came out in January.

So does VIX. I've got an old Nova-T black USB stick. It does get the HD channels here because they are transmitted in DVB-T. In the UK the HD channels are DVB-T2 which I think is not compatible with the Nova-T.

I do fancy trying Black Hole but this is the main receiver here at the moment and I don't want to confuse everyone with a new look and feel. I'm thinking about getting an Uno, and if I do I'll probably put it on there.

Hee hee. It took me nearly a month to break the 7020. Looks like Ive made a right bleeding mess of the Duo tho.

Ive followed these instructions

Quick guide how to flash a VU+ Duo receiver with a USB stick. Tools required are just your favourite image and at least a 128mb memory stick formatted FAT32.

1. Format you memory stick on you PC FAT32.
2. Create a directory in called vuplus.
3. Within the the vuplus directory create another folder called duo.
4. Unzip the USB upgrade files into that directory.
5. Power off your VU+ Duo.
6. Insert memory stick into front USB slot.
7. Power on your VU+ Duo and follow the on screen instructions.

(from Robxxxx7 on allsats)

Ive made the vuplus folder, made a duo folder inside that and unzipped three files from Vix2.2 image from the W-o-S site into the duo folder. (couldnt work out which was the right BH image and anyway I can always change over later - I just need to get the bloody thing running again today.

So having plugged the usb stick into the front usb port and rebooted does it give me the option to upgrade?? Does it hell - I get the green screen / loading screens again....

On the Duo the upgrade happens automatically. If it doesn't work the USB stick is not compatible. I've got several that won't flash the Duo. If you go on the Vix forum there is a sticky that lists the known compatible USB sticks for flashing.
