New White Sky Card

TM600 + Dm800 HD

I was thinking of buying a second hand ex sub one from ebay, just for the free channels, e.g. Five, Fiver, Five USA and so on and sticking it in a TM600

My question is, the card will already have been paired to the original sky box and as it's an ex sub card will i need the original sky box serial to input in to the TM600 and will the card still need to have entitlements updated???

Also if I go down the route of buying a free-sat from sky card directly from sky, and then activating in my original sky SD box, will I still need the box serial and still need to update the entitlements???

Also if I get a free-sat from sky card directly from sky, and then activate it in a normal non HD sky digibox, will the HD channels clear and work in a DM800 HD box??? or will the free-sat from sky card need to be activated in an HD digibox???

This is the only reason I would go down the ebay route as I do not have an HD sky digibox if it is needed to activate the HD channels

Any help on this please, thanks.

Active Sky (non-HD) cards show Channel 4 HD and Channel 5 HD. I have an expired one that does too, however, Sky cards won't update in my TM6900 so they need to be refreshed in a real Sky box every month or so to keep the card alive. Not sure about your box though.
 
If you look around tonights posts on the forum you will find that atm you dont need a card for C4HD if you have a none Sky HD box ;)
 
this is what i hate ib BskyB u never know where will update time on those cards . Even if u are out of home 2-4 weeks this card wont be updated and u are done . Update should be all time from 1st of month till ~20 like inother systems.
 
Why not ring them and complain ........................



.................... Oh, you can't really as they will probably disable your Card(s).

What are you on about this time?

The card expiry dates are at least a month away when the entitlements are updated.

Ive NEVER had a card disabled during normal holiday lengths - I was away for 3 weeks in Canada last summer and the card was still active when I got back despite the box having been unpolugged for the entire duration I was away.

You can finsd the entitlement dates easy enough if you put the cards in a dreambox or linux box

BskyB are not disabling their cards [freesat[crypted] from sky]


in ~2006 i received card from friend in Greece mate he moved to Greece but he was German and he choosed Sky instead of Premiere tiers on this cards was extremely outdated and some1 told me simply just leave this card on premium channels and yes he was correct but not exaclty coz the progress of updating is not easy since BskyB 0961 was each tier diffrent updating than todays 0963. Right now using Dm800 i see 1 emm is updating all tiers @ once in 961 times it was each tier diffrent times.

its very simply their system is not using 1 key and u never know when it will be update its very easy for some1 who is using mostly 28 east daily newcs/docs/entertaiment

and i finally received update but it was very crappy update mine card was 31.03 and now its only 20.4 update on 31.03 was on 1st february that was clear 2 full months now its just 6 weeks anyway thats better than wasiting energy on power :D lol

Apparently according to other forums most updates occur on the 13th of each month on Sky. I used to update mine every sunday evening and it usually upadated on at least one of them.

If the card does go off its just a case of leaving it in the Sky box for between a few hours and 3 days. The card usually updates by then and it begins to clear in the Sky box again.

As for the card being paired this is only relevent for the premiere channels like sports and movies. The boxkey isn't needed for the basic six mix channels.

No idea how much truth there is in the date the card updates as my Sky card hasn't come out the Sky box for the last 12 months :-DOH!

It keeps the wife and kids happy as they can just about operate the Sky+ box :-lmao

see u have may and i just today got may exactyly 10.5 today 27 of march sunday. I see on mine cccam info that emms is downloading or not but it didnt then i forgot that receiver is turned on after i came back i saw 10.5.2011
 
Yeah, says 26th now but I think mine was the 10th a few weeks back
