Newbie motor problem

My Satellite Setup

I've just taken delivery of my full setup which consists of an Eagle 1000s box, 90cm dish and Icecrypt motor.

I've been having a play with the motor on the floor connected to the box and it seems to be acting strange to me.

Goto 0 takes it to zero fine. If I tell it to go to 10e, the markings on the motor show its at around 15. And when told to goto 28.2e the markers show its about 35!
Going west, 10w seems to goto 10.

Have I got something setup wrong in the software?
I've tried both pli Jade and Nabilo with the same results.

So the markings on the motor aren't actually the degrees to the satelite you want.
Quite bizare really.

Not bizarre at all really. In the uk we are close the meridian ie 0 degrees longitude, but round the rest of globe they are not, and the angle shown on the motor will never match the satellite angle.
 
Slight tangent I know, but the word "Icecrypt" caught my attention as did lack of info about your LNB ................... The words Icecrypt and LNB put together make for a somewhat unusual design whereby the F connector is not at bottom dead centre for zero skew.

Can you tell us exactly which LNB you are using?
 
The query was actually about the Icecrypt motor, but as it happens I do have an Icecrypt lnb that came with the package.
If you type icecrypt lnb into fleabay you'll see the one.

The F connector is at the bottom in the centre!?
 
Yes I know Icecrypt, as stated, related to the motor .... but the fact that you have some Icecrypt stuff in your package made me wonder if you also had an Icecrypt LNB:

Indeed the F connector does come out of the bottom of the casing, BUT ....................... when you attach it in what appears to be the obvious way, you may find difficulty getting the skew right as at least some batches of the LNB actually require the body to be rotated so the outlet is at about four o'clock in order to achieve zero skew. These items have caused much head-scratching and confusion for others and I am trying to (potentially) save you the same!

Many Thanks. I knew nothing about that, although my lnb has very clear markings on it. Should I just align it up to 0?
 
There's a faint line on the top of the LNb, tighten up on that. If not then adjust for best signal.
 
As said, suck it and see: The links I gave were "just in case" because I don't know if later batches of that LNB behave in the same way as the mainstream.

It's just a "heads-up" in case you encounter problems - easily put right if you've got one of the weird ones (Easy if you know what you're looking for!).

This is my lnb. Hopefully it's a new batch and the markings are correct.

ROFL indeed, old friend.

The description is true, though - albeit misleading as it is clearly intended to promise "something extra".
 
Been installing this today trying to align just using the signal on the tv.
At one point I got BBC News & Parlaiment on 28.2e but nothing else.
I could get H polarities to lock on but not V polarities! unless I turned lnb 90'

I'm now not sure if its the LNB, my cheap DM500 clone or alignment.
 
A combo of the previously stated LNB peculiarity, perhaps along with alignment seem favourite to me.

Line of sight clear?
 
Had more luck today. Got 90% SNR on BBC World on 1w with a few other channels and about 2/3 of channels on 28.2e.
Probably needs more tweaking of the LNB
