Hello,
I looking to buy a new dish and i'm looking for some recommendations. I'm not after something motorized - but a static one. I will want to use it with the hotbird satellite as i intend to buy a TIVU receiver. I have had a look on the site and 'Gibertini' seem to be popular.
Any advice welcomed.
Thanks.

Since its for Hotbird, your dish choice is not critical, anything will do.

Sky mini dishes work really well on Hotbird. Or maybe a Penta 68cm if you want to spend more money, or a Triax TD64.

Gibertinis are good too of course, Ive only used the 1m and the 1.2m, so I dont know what tthe smaller ones ( if they do them) are like.

Save your money - all you need is a zone 2 Sky dish! Hotbird is almost as strong as the Astra 2 cluster these days. If you want a bit more rain fade protection then any cheap old 20-30 quid 80 cm dish will do just fine. I use a scruffy and very battered second hand 80cm dish for Hotbird, and after knocking the dents out and taking the worst of the warp out of the rim its worked fine for years. :)

Just for Robbo's info really, Gibertini's are available from HM-Sat in, 40, 64, 75 & 80cm. The 40cm ones start at 19 Euro's + shipping.

Why not keep the kit you've got and just get the TivùSat Card & CAM which has recently become available?

Depends upon whether your TM has CI slots, though .................

I got a Sky Zone 2 with all fittings and LNB etc. for £25 and works fine. Motorised now :)

A big thank you to everyone who replied. Your advice is appreciated. I know which dish to go for, but I need now to find out more about TIVU sat. I have a technomate 1500 CI but I don't know if the CAM will work in that?

Certainly have! It would be nice if a big list of working receivers could be obtained!

Did you ever find out of the 1500 is compatible with TIVU?
