My Satellite Setup
Currently Sky Minidish to Astra 19.2
My Location
London
Hello, I'm moving to Berlin and am looking to inform myself on the set up I would need regarding receiving UK satellite TV there. I understand that the Astra 28e satellites have a UK spot beam and would thus require a ginormous dish to receive even a hint of reception?
Is it possible to obtain the codes to use the Intelsat UK TV feeds or is this extremely unlikely. Have people on here had experience with installing and tuning totally alone or is it likely that I'll have to enlist a professional?
Thanks for the help.

We havent had any reports from the Berlin area - (the map is in my sig below this post), so its pretty unlikely you will have any success with any sensible sized dish for the UK spotbeam with the BBC ITV etc on

You stand a reasonable chance with 27.5W - probably an 80-90 cm dish should work in Berlin. You will need a suitable receiver and find the BISS codes yourself. Also remember these services could be properly encrypted or removed at any time.

I think Berlin is nice place to live and install Sat-system. Perhaps, by using only 1.8m antenna it is possible to receive both, UK beam from 28.5*E and also Russian beam from 36*E.

Hi, I'm living about 400km due south of Berlin and I get just enough from 2E to have reception all year round. 2F´and 2G reception is only possible during the winter/Spring season and not 24/7 since I am tuned dead on 2E.

So I think in Berlin it will need more than my 2.4m.

If you are ~400km south from Belin than it does not men in Berlin it necessary size of dish more than 2.4m. OK, 1.8m it was just guessing..... perhaps it is possible to get some signals on 1.8m... of course 2.4m will be much better.

If you look at Analoguesats map there is an entry in Wolfsburg, which is about 200km west of Berlin. 2.4m no spotbeam. The europe beam would work on a lot smaller dish.

Yeah, I know, stories about UK beam from 28.5* in Berlin is just a stories which I've read somewhere. I know for sure that in my location, antenna size of at least 4 m is needed to have 24h reception of UK FTA channels.
