Nilesat 201

My Satellite Setup
Technomate 1500, 90cm Dish, Mesh Computer ART, Digit Alb, Fortec 2.4m Dish
Channel Master 2.4m, Showtime.
My Location
West Midlands
Good Evening Guy's,

Does anybody know if the new Nilesat 201 which I believe is due to replace the existing Nilesat 101 & 102 in the middle of 2010 be a stronger signal or will it be beamed totally for the middle east region.

I am just thinking ahead to see if I might need to upgrade my Channel Master 2.4 to a Prodelin 3.0 if the signal is dropped.

The only info I can find is that Nilesat 201 will be built based on Spacebus 4000B2 technology ..
The same construction as Thor 6 ...
So presumably the same 'abilities' apply...regarding transponders and beam coverage..

There is no information available about the coverage for Nilesat 201, but Id expect the transmission beam to be far more restricted than the current Nilesats - transmission beam shaping technology has improved radically in the last 5-10 years.

Its quite possible 3m wont be big enough in the Midlands, although we wont know until the bird is orbited and in service
 
11996H Showsports signal is droping of fast,i am down to 58%.Just an update i turned my dish too 26.0E,and was pleased how well it done.I got all of Badr 4, transponders,came in around 90%-99% and Badr 6 ,50%-55% even 11804 H
Abu Dhabi Sports.Which have the premier league rights from next year.
Might be good too check 26.0E Kimbo.

Do you know if the Prodelin 3m will out perform my existing Channel Master 2.4m the gain suggests that it will, However it is always nice to find out from people who are in the know.

A work friend has just come back from Dubai and he mentioned that in the local press over there Showsports are close to doing a deal with Abu Dhabi for them to sub lease the English premiership games from 2010 football season.

Well if analoguesat is correct about Nilesat 201 and Showtime do get the football next year, were all stuffed.
 
If Im correct, you will just have to buy one of the expensive European packages if you want the 3pms :D
 
It does make you think,i hope there is Premier League Football on next year.On 26.0East does not matter,which beam Badr 4 or Badr 6.
 
Does anyone know if it would be possible to pick up this sat with a 80cm in southern Spain???

If so are there enought english language channels for it to be worth it??

ps the digital tv channels are rubbish !!!!!(although we get premier football live on

ps they are switching the analogue signal off on the 15 dec two weeks earlier. sound like a pre xmas stich up!!!)(-red)(-red
 
7 W should put a decent signal into Spain so give it a try :)
 
@john896 when you moved your dish did you get anything off eurobird 25.5e??

Thanks for that I will definately give it a go once Digi TV changes to Nag 3.

I know there only a hand full of channels but thats better than nohing down here in spain.

just out of interest, they are cutting the analogue signal down here in 12 days, bringing it forward from 31 dec.

its leaving alot of people in the brown stuff as not ever tv here has a scart plug!!!!

digital is also very fragile in wind and rain you can wave it good bye along with the sky signal!!!
 
Hi terriers,I could not get any signal at all from 25.5East with my 2.4M Dish.However i did get great readings on Badr 4,and good readings on Badr 6.

hi ..do u get badr 6 in uk? i thought it was totally dead in europe...

Cheers john...saves me a job moving from 7west...i believe showtime have struck a deal with abhu dhabi tv to sub lease the rights to show epl from next season,,so good news for us jodrel bank owners!!
