what quitment,or special filter i have to use, when the signals from the 20mhz lower transponder, will overlap, the new hd signal, happens on 11727,got educ package now,and on 12111 rotana, normaly a xline lnb should have no freqency drift,of freqencys that are very near together, how it looks every lnb handles diffrence, see this now first time since new nilesat starts, before this never happens, means signal here, but will be overlapped from the nabour stronger one,any ideas what i can try, scew adjust brings also nothing,on month other nilesat old transponders i have 10 db,hope when new osn swich ofer, the are not so near together

yes, they are still "on". 12111 H with 59% on Clarke Tech 5000 Combo Plus (CTCP) and 12092 V with 57% on CTCP. Also still "on" today 11727 H with 25% on Openbox X-810.

very strange i can't find them as the transponders seem a lot stronger than 11727H which i was able to lock earlier (i lost signal there too now cause of heavy rain)

before the rain:

11727H: 29%
12111H: nothing
12092V: nothing

Hello BusterBE,

no, both DVB-S2 transponder (12092 V/12111 H with FEC 5/6) aren´t "a lot stronger" than 11727 H in DVB-S with FEC 3/4. Also FEC is different.

In fringe reception areas, like yours, DVB-S2 signal should be more difficult to get as DVB-S signal.

Good luck at all!

PS: 29% with wich receiver?

Best regards
qwer

Hello BusterBE,

for DVB-S2 signals with QPSK and FEC 5/6 you need >42% and >7,1dB on DM8000 (CVS 5.1.09).

(Edit: Sorry, wrong % first).

qwer.

Hello guys,

I´m so sorry, but I was wrong.

I´ve compared reception parameters for DM8000 on this useful thread from german dxtv-board (Link: _http://forum.dxtv.de/wbb/thread.php?threadid=15134&hilight=tunervergleich ).
For myself, I did not use DM8000.

Correction:

DVB-S signals with QPSK and FEC 5/6 needs >42% and >7,1dB on DM8000 (CVS 5.1.09);
DVB-S2 signals with 8PSK and FEC 5/6 needs >56% and >9,8dB on DM8000 (CVS 5.1.09).

DVB-S2 QPSK with FEC 5/6 signal, as it is used on 12092 V/12111 H, on DM8000, I do not know! Sorry again.

Best Regards
qwer.

Hi dx qwer,
What are those dB figures referring to? S/N, C/N, MER?

In the case of QPSK & 8PSK, if MER is the same on both, C/N has to be much higher for 8PSK, or if C/N is the same, MER will be much worse on 8PSK. This is due to higher precision required to decide which of the 8 zones of the IQ constellation an 8PSK bit belongs to, compared to only 4 zones for QPSK. Shannon's theorem explains this. Basically it says for a particular noise floor it is only possible to get so much data down the pipe. If you want to send more data down the same size pipe you must lower the noise floor or increase the power. 8PSK is double the data per symbol so requires a bigger margin between signal and noise.

In the case of DVB-S & DVB-S2 when both are QPSK the required C/N is lower for DVB-S2, i.e. DVB-S2 requires a less powerful signal.

Hello! From what I know, on DM8000 the signal parameters are the same like on Dm500HD.

DVB-S/QPSK/Fec 3/4 needs >31-32%(5.0db) to have image without any freeze, and 28-29% to lock the signal
DVB-S/QPSK/Fec 5/6 needs >38-39%(6.0db) to have image without freeze and 36-37% to lock the signal
DVB-S2/QPSK/Fec 5/6 needs >33-34%(5.5db) to have image without freeze and 31-32% to lock the signal

I receive 11727 H 27500 with the 1.4m dish at a signal level of 5.4-5.5db. The signal is not constant all day long and have a maximum after 4-5Pm. 12092&12111 not ok for the moment with 1.4 dish under the limit of reception, I will try with my 3.0m prime focus. Signal for 11727 appear in the morning, increase slowly up to 34-35% at 5Pm and after 10-11Pm it dissapear.
With Nilesat 101/102 I have no problem, the signal is over 9db all the time on all tp's on my 1.4m dish.

Regards!

Hello DX Excalibur,

thank you for your report.

I´m a little confused about reports from german "dxtv board".
I can see now, they are different from yours.
