Can anyone confirm if the following TP is still active on the Nilesat 7w 10930.00MHz, pol.H SR:27500 FEC:3/4 . Was looking on kingofsat website and realised i can't seem to pick this TP. Don't get a signal lock. I can receive all other H/V transponders from the UK.

Thanx

I have just done a scan on th transponder and the channels were listed
and I was able to view Live TV from the Middle East

Well if you can get all the others with your monster dish I can see no reason at all, it may be worth scanning with 5 mhz higher or lower i.e. 10935 or 10925 just for fun.

Shouldn't that be Amo Amas Amat............

It is the plural that is Amant

Amamas Amatis Amant.........

No I am not trying to quote schoolboy Latin verbatim

I am merely making a statement of fact

I love, you love, they love admin

tryed scanning 5mhz higher and lower makes no difference. Used following rx nokia dbox2 and dbox1. I have also checked the lnb to make sure if it was receiving that freq on another satellite. Hotbird 13e Nova package use exactly the same freq for Nova cinema 1 and that is all fine.

I did search on the forum and came across this post by canofan and the tp in question is also mentioned in the post.

Hello everyone,
Nilesat has two beams
1. middle east
2. wide.
Usually the middle east beam does not present reception problems.
The wide beam, on the other hand, needs more efficient hardware.

Nilesat carries now transponders in tne below 11700 range.

They are all in the wide beam.

The following transponders are in the wide beam and have a systematic problem:

10796 V 10834 V 10853 H
10873 V 10892 H 10911 V
10930 H

12341 V 12360 H 12399 H.

I am not receiving ESPN on Nilesat at 10.930. After some checking I realized that I am also not receiving any other channels at that frequency. I get "No Signal" on those channels. It is very disappointing because I very much enjoy ESPn

Douda1, the satellite was recently 'upgraded' with a new bird.

Were you getting the channel a few days ago ?

AB4 was replaced by HB10. Switch over was on the 15th. I've got 8 FTA channels on that transponder using the 150cm dish but nothing on the 80cm.

I was indeed receiving the 3 Espn channels up until the 15th. I am new to all of this... Does this mean I am just out of luck or can I get them on HB10 (that is Hotbird 10, correct?)

HB10 was what it was called before it was retasked to 7W. Now it is called AB4A.

So is there a way to get my channels back? I have rescanned but have not been able to get signal quality.

Hi All
have not been on for some time due to house renevations almost finished
all my equipment was stored away, I have purchased a new 90 cm
hirchman dish & a Technomate 1500ci reciever could some one give info
about patching what do i need dont have card or cam etc. would
appreciate some help. thanks

I still have the silvercrest sl 65/12 still stored away in the attic hope it still works did not get the up date for it the last time, when i will have all set up i will
need help on how to update it. thanks again.

I guess I just don't know how to connect to the new satellite (AB4A) It seems to me that the position is the same as Nilesat at W 7.0 . Is there something I am missing?

AB4A - by the way there is this thread running: http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/fringe-reception-general/148235-7w-atlantic-bird-4a.html - is at 7.3W as you can see here: http://www.n2yo.com/?s=33750

The reception in Western Africa seems to have become much more difficult compared to AB4 before. I'd recommend to keep an eye also at _http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-242036.1120.html where mostly people from your region are discussing about reception conditions in general.

Thanks for the reply deepbluesky. I followed the link and eventually found some rather disheartening information:

"Again re Nilesat

Yep, AB4A has replaced AB4. The sad news is that the footprint of AB4A seems to be less generous than the erstwhile AB4 --- especially for people like us (UK certainly and maybe Nigeria/West Africa as well) in fringe reception areas."

If this is indeed true then it will mean that most of us following this thread will be out of luck for the affected TPs.
