Extremely unlikely unless you buy a monster dish click here for 102 footprint The footprints are not even aimed at Europe so there is not much chance, I can get the odd channel on a very clear day

Not a chance with a 90 in Dublin. One of our members requires 1.2m in East Anglia.

I'm getting 98 FTA and 15 scrambled here. All on the vertical beams of course.

Lancelot is that on NILESAT ?
again if i am to get a 1.2 or even 1.8m dish would i be able to recieve 7W?
also could u guys advice me on which dish to get ? i would love to buy something like the fortec's wave gregorian but i read a part of LIKVID's post that they are crap ? i would love to actually hae just 1 dish and using 5 -6 Lnbs incl. 2x quattro feeing into 2 skyboxes a PVR and a powersky .. being able to get besides the usual astra/hotbird/hispasat but also Nilesat etc please advice re
1-size
2-material i.e steel/? solid/mesh ?
3-motorised vs gregorian
4-multi feed ...incl. accessories that woukd be required
5-mount? would ideally like to have a backgarden / patio setup instead of roof/sidewall
thanx...p.s dont be afraid to mention anything that i have forgotten here and oh...sellers and if possible delievery options

Yes L is talking about Nilesat. (The H beams are very weak in the UK). He is using a 1.25m Gilbertini dish. You will probably need something bigger as he is a lot further east than you. Dont expect anything on the H beam channels at all in Ireland.

Yes sorry i'ts 7W i'm talking about.
What is it on there that you are aiming to see, as my collegue said you have very little chanch of the horizontal transponders on there without a monster dish.

1. 1.8mtr plus probably in your location

2. Steel, fibreglass or aluminium. doesn't make any real difference.

3. Gregorian is a type of feed arrangememt, not a substitute for a motor.

4. You are better off with a motor as you will be less limited.

5. It will be far easier to ground mount such a large antenna.

How much are you willing to spend ??

Why not just put a seperate mini dish up for you sky boxes with a quatro and feed the 2 digiboxes and consentrate on a bigge dish with motor to view the rest of the birds. Thats what I done feeding 3 digiboxes inc 1 sky+.

quite a lot of good FTA on Nilesat esp some HINDI/URDU channels e.g INDUS MUSIC/ INDUS VISION/ SHOWTIME etc etc . i wouldnt give a toss if there was another satellite that i could catch the same channels but i dont think so. as for how much i am willing to spend depends... if i am getting an absolute gem which would do hoops and jumps ,roll over & play dead then i might fork out near to a grand .( which is unlikely ) hence in reality terms roughly b/w 300-500 euros.if there is any indication that with a 1.8 i might be able to get nilesat or similar e.g English language channels which would be showing LOST/SCRUBS/4400/24 and the likes then i will go above 500 euros.just need guidance.i had read an article testing a few Gregorian/ toroidal dishes which claimed that using 5-6 lnb's they were able to get as many satellites and more if the transponders were same for any 2 sats, without the waiting time for a motorised setup to align itself . so i actually had placed an order for a 90 cm force wave gregorian with 5 lnbf . But it transpires that weight was more then 35 kg's and furthermore i read on online comments (LIKVID) in a forum that such a dish was made of steel and rusts and in short was crap and I would be better of with a motorised setup.i would like the idea of instant channel/satellite switching with just 1 dish that dosent stick out like mount rushmore ! HELP !!!!

Come on now let's be realistic do you honestly think that the programmes that you mention Lost 24 etc are going to be shown FTA. Part of the agreement of being granted broadcast rights for such new programming is that they are not FTA as transmitting FTA devalues the price of the series for future sales.

Two Indus channels are planning to launch on Sky in the next few months. Possibly as soon as March, although no definite dates are confirmed yet

again i do not subscribe to sky ...have just the FTA on sky digiboxes wonder if its gonna be FTA then that will be brill....so i am gonna lay off the NILESAT requirement and would be looking for suggestions of buying and setting up a dish . I want to have a 1.0or 1.2m dish with gregorian style LNB multi barcket and also set this up with a motor ?if possible . can ihave a gregorian reflector thingy + bracket made personally ? of lightweight aluminium foil etc etc ? is it possible ? what would i need ? i have access via a foreign market to cheap labour where i can get this made on order ... but not the dish itself as that would be quite big ??would this work ? i know that wave frontier 90 cm dish gregorian is roughly 150 pounds ex delievery and with delievery goes above 200 pounds?help !!

No idea if Indus will be FTA or scrambled.

Buy your dish from a proper reseller. At Ku band frequencies, they need to be manufactured to millimetric accuracy. I can guarantee a homemade dish with reflectors made of ali foil will perform really badly..... :D

For instance(and this is one of several decent uk based sellers.:
Satcure sell a nice non gregorian triax for 60 quid:

122901 100 x 105cm Triax TD110 pole mount solid dish £59.95

You have to add the vat and delivery onto this.

You can probably find something similar from an Irish company to cut down on the shipping costs.

No poiunt doing multi brackets then motorising - most of the time the offset brackets wont be pointing at anything. Do one or the other.

Be careful in investing now. Nobody knows if at all or with which size Nilesat 103 (now Hotbird 4) will be available in your area. It is planned to move this satellite in Q2 this year from 13E to 7W.
