no euronews on freesat

hi all, can anyone help just got my freesat set up getting all channals apart from euronews, i have tryd adding it as a none freesat channel but i cant find it, iv got sky news and a few more channels but i realy want euronews can anyone help pls thank you
 
Have you updated the Software ?

There have been various glitches with the various Freesat boxes and, without trawling the depths of my memory, IIRC all boxes are fully operational subject to being loaded with the latest software.
 
updated as soon as i set it up, my box is a hd bush bfsat01hd,
when i did set it up it said the signal was 55%,, but if it was lower than 50% it said it would not work,
got bbc hd and most frrsat channels, euronews is on my list but when i go to it says no signial
 
Well it could be alignment - those figures look rather low.

Did you install the dish yourself, or are you using an old one?

Is it accessible, so you can give it a tweak?

I bet it's a "Sky" dish thrown up by a Sky Installer with little regard for performance on Eurobird................... If not, apologies in advance for any slur on your DiY efforts! :D
 
das the company put it up for me, phoned them to say signal looks low, they dont seem botherd, its doing my head in, looks like its low signal then m8
 
Euronews is not a Freesat channel as far as I am aware it is a sky FTA 12560 V 27500 2/3 according to lyngsat however that frequency is very close to the DECT phone frequency problem

Hi band problems:-

12480 to 12500 MHz (10600 MHz LO) IF is 1880 to 1900 MHz

try disconnect the power from your DECT phone and scanning again
 
If it's a recent install, tell them to get it sorted out. They should be bothered.
 
Euronews certainly is a Freesat Channel, Topper! (EPG # 204)

Sky News (for obvious reasons) isn't.

Could be DECT, but generally 12480 is the high band TP that is most affected. Only takes two shakes to check, though.

I'm sure everyone who has a Freesat box can find Euronews on 204 without recourse to Lyngsat.

Perhaps its incompleteness is why I favour flysat and kingofsat (although I can't say I've ever bothered to check they show both platforms, where appropriate).

Edit: They also only show one Platform. Presumably that of the Transponder leaseholder? Whatever the reason, it doesn't tell the whole story.
 
You don't get it on the Freesat EPG, but you can get it in non-Freesat mode and, because it is transmitted FTA, you can also get it on any DVB-S Receiver.

For some reason, many UK punters are obsessed with "EPG" by which they mean a fixed Channel number, 7 day programme guide and, in the case of PVRs, easy high-level recording.

Euronews, like BBC, ITV and many others, pay for EPG slots on both BSkyB and Freesat.

Some Channels pay for BSkyB EPG, but not Freesat EPG.

Sky News is the most noteworthy of those: Perhaps because they see Freesat as a competitor to their own Platform!

A Freesat box, as you know, has a non-Freesat mode whereby you can scan in every FTA channel regardless of whether they pay for an EPG slot.

I think what Topper is referring to is that traditionally the Platform associated with a Channel (if any) is shown on listings sites.

But now there are two UK Platforms, it gets a bit convoluted.

eg Euronews is shown as a BSkyB Channel, despite also being a Freesat Channel.

Conversely, BBC, ITV etc are shown as Freesat Channels, despite also being part of the Sky Platform.
 
my head is so mashed up lol, the engineer has just been and says the dish is in the corect place, but i still cant get euronews, i have put a few on like sky news, is there away to add euronews mannually i have tryed a few like 12560 v 27500 and 11817 27500 any help would be so apreceated thanks all
 
Well I'm glad they've been back to check, but it hasn't moved us forward very much, it seems. How did he check the dish? With a meter at the dish, or by some "visual only" magical diagnosis?

Did you try turning off DECT phones and the like, as Topper suggested?

I can't think of much else to suggest, other than taking the Box back and getting another. That at least would prove something.

Before that last resort, you could try a "Factory Reset". Buried in the Menus somewhere!
 
yep but still cant get it, it always comes on freesat when i scan, but just says no signal, been trying all day i dont know what it could be, but thanks for your help

This is very strange indeed, though: What are the answers to my queries about how the installer confirmed the dish was ok?

Were you happy with what he did? Although, to be fair, if the dish was a few tenths the wrong side of 28E, potentially causing poor Eurobird reception, I'd expect it to affect more Channels than just Euronews.

The only other, rather tenuous, explanation I can offer is compatibility with the particular LNB. There have been a few reported cases (and mine was one of them!0 of the Humax Foxsat being incompatible with some LNB at certain frequencies, as proved in all cases by the problem disappearing after a different brand of LNB was fitted - and the original LNB proved to be perfectly ok in general terms!

But I haven't ever heard of this problem in relation to Bush boxes.

So right now it seems you are left with replacing the box under Warranty.

Just as a last "straw-clutching" exercise, do you or a neighbour/friend have a Sky Box you could bang on and try?

Could you try your Bush on someone else's dish?
