No reception

My Satellite Setup
Satellite dish outside. TV connected to internet
My Location
Suffolk Uk
When I change channels we sometimes get a message saying that the receiver is not receiving a signal or the signal is too weak. This does not seem to have anything to do with the weather. E.g. tonight I watched BBC and the turned onto ITV3 and we got that message and were unable to watch anything. Does anyone else have this problem?

Weak signals can have several causes, in no particular order.:

moved dish (mainly caused by strong winds)
damaged cable (rodent damage, splits caused by weathering etc)
failing lnb (tghe bit in front of the dish)
failing receiver (power supply capacitors going bad used to be a common cause of failure)
water ingress into the cable

A misaligned dish is the commonest problem. If you can SAFELY reach the dish then gently press the sides of the dish and see if the reception improves. If so you can try to undo the bolts and move it a tiny bit - a couple of mm of rotation is plenty.
 
you need to describe your system , make , model , date of installation , location and any other details that might help in diagnosing your fault .
