No "Reply" Options (Certain Browsers only)!!

Ah, I've just taken compatibility view off and the reply box is there together with the formatting controls.

What do all these plugins do? Are they actually necessary? I can't say that I've noticed any difference - save fixing the post box problem - since their removal.

I was wondering the same.

Less is more.

Innit.

Here's a (gigantic) forum using xenforo. I must say I prefer their looks, layout and general navigation.

I've looked again at this and the copyright notice at the bottom of the page is dated 2010-2016 whereas here it's 2010-2018.

It looks to me as though they've stayed with a version that worked well and everyone loved rather than risk upsetting their members.

Could that be an option for us?

To revert back to an older more stable version as this is upsetting members.

The (quite irritating) big empty spaces, obviously why it happens and should be easy to fix, move "satellite setup" (and whatever that may eat up vertical space under avatar) to the bottom of post's text area (alt 2, make the avatar area quite larger to accomodate more horizontal text space). btw, have posted about this some months ago.

It's not often easy to revert to an older version, most new versions are security updates/enhancements as well.

@4wd Yes, had moved mine ages ago.

^^^ Yes, so did I, and looks so much better.

But should go there automatically. Make some change\improvements to the avatar area text fields\rules, to control and avoid any extreme vertical occurences.

I've made the user profile info area collapsible so should work better.

Lots of eye clutter gone, relaxing, gives automatic focus on post content.

I'll have to move all my details back there. The lower part of my posts are waaaay too long now!

I don't know how easy it would be but maybe showing the first 2 to 4 lines of the profile in collapsed state would make an ideal compromise?

Hmm, maximum number of characters permitted in the profile area seems smaller than I remember so I've moved everything back!

Max characters can probably be changed, as with a collapsible profile, it isn't as relevant.

@PaulR How many characters do you need?

Have upped to 400.

Are you saying that you are unable to post a reply? Knock once for yes and twice for no?

Seriously, I can't see how you can quote a post without being able to add a comment.

Three posts consisting of nothing but quotes, this used to be one of the many methods used to increase post count to enable features that were restricted to new users.
