Unless you have found the wrong satellite, it must be either the cable/connections or the digibox, can you test it with yours?

The settings on the box will normally return to default after a long power down and unless he has changed anything they should be correct.

In the spare room.
Hi M.T.,
If it's a sky digibox your referring to, and if you have found the wrong sat. e.g. 19.2 ,
then the sky box will say no signal, because it will not be receiving one from it's default transponder on astra2.

When I aligned my dish to the wrong satelilite with a meter only presumably 19.2 by mistake, I couldnt find my compass, it showed a good signal strength via the box, but signal quality was zero.

Not surprising, as a signal strength reading could mean that you are either receiving a signal from a satellite that you have not entered the correct parameters into your receiver for, or you are picking up atmospheric or ground noise if your dish is off satellite.

It may be obvious, but what are the correct parameters for 28.2 then ?

If you mean the Sky digibox, it's the list of transponders programmed into the box to receive the transmissions on 28.2.
If you want to receive anything from e.g. Astra 19.2, you will have to input the frequencies into the box yourself (but only those with SR's of 22000 or 27500 can be used)
