No sound from some recordings

I have tried playing my recordings from the 8000 on the pc and some of them play with no sound, how can i fix this??

here is how i play them on the pc;
1. i log into my 8000's harddrive via ftp on the pc
2. i copy and paste the .ts file over to the pc
3. play the file through windows media player

the majority of the videos play with sound but if its a recording from a channel that has multiple audio options and that ac3 option, then thats when i get no sound, regardless of how i was originally watching it on the box,

also, i've noticed a few files on the box with the same name of each recording, with there be something in the other files that carry the different audio options??



don't get me wrong, i love the 8000 and what it can do, its just these little niggles that tend to spoil the dreambox experience
 
?? any solutions??
 
Have you tried a different media player such as Video Lan Player? Does that have the same result?
 
no, i've only just tried through windows media player, but whichever player i use thats not the point cos when i want to copy the files onto dvd to play as a dvd, i'll want sound (or the different sound options) on the file/dvd anyways
 
??, help anyone?? as i'm sure others would like to know this too

Do I need all the files relating to the same name as the .TS file in order for the sound/sound options??
 
A Transport Stream , as recorded by the Dreambox carries any multiple audio streams that where available when it was recorded. If you wish to grab one of those audio streams you're going to need more advanced editing software that is capable of detecting them. My only suggestion is to try Tmpgenc assuming you're a windows user. The other files created by the recording to my knowledge will not help you.
As for playing them, Media Player is probably about the worst you could choose. You should replace it entirely with VLC when using your Dreambox.
VLC may even help you with this issue but I'd have to look into that. Try TmpGenc and see if it helps you.
 
ok, VLC may help when playing the files on the pc but say i want a dvd copy made of the file to play on your standard set top dvd players then thats where i'll probably need a solution

the reason being for copying onto dvd is i like to archive my recordings that I want to keep, to,
A. Make space on the harddrive,
B. So that it doesn't accidently get deleted
and,
C. So if somebody wants a copy of something they have missed, (unfortunate members of the family that don't have the likes of s*y+, v*ginmedia, b*vision etc.. I can easly give them a copy of a recording on disc
 
Read this, it makes for very interesting and informative reading. Read it all, it does go on to list the available software packages that can deal with Transport Streams.

Having read a little further on this subject it seems your best software is probably ProjectX
 
so ProjectX will sort my problem (and many others on this forum with the same problem)??
 
Try it mate, and post your findings to help others. I cannot help you with it as I'm a MAC user.
