Noaa 15 scan errors

Sadly it looks like NOAA 15 is no longer servicable. Scan errors (almost certainly caused by lubrication failure of the AVHRR instrument) have been getting steadily worse since yesterday



Shes over 20 years old so I think NOAA have got their moneys worth out of #15!

This morning NOAA 18 was passing at 08:40 UTC. NOAA 15 at 08:44 UTC
I could only get a bit of the NOAA 15 pass.This is the 16:53 pass.As you say it looks like we are now down to two WX satellites.

NOAA believe the scan motor has stalled.

Shes unlikely to recover from that. Ive rather sadly removed #15 from my list of active satellites and apart from occasionally monitoring the output Im not going to bother with 15 again unless she recovers

Yah glad to see 15 has been resurrected from the dead. Ive switched her back into my system so now awaiting the next pass

And after 4 or 5 days of resumed service shes broken again

It looks like it is back again.The second one was only a 4:50 minute scan.How long will it last this time.

I got a really bad scan from N 15 last night.I thought that it had gone belly up again.
Luckily I did not post it.This is not one of my better scans It is still working fine though.
