I have just been given a Nokia 9600 and i want to know what i can do with it.
A pal told me i need a dish with a diseqc motor is he right or can i connect it to my old dish. If not what do i need to get this up and running.

You can connect it to your old dish as long as it has an universal LNB. Obviously you will only get the channels from the satellite that the dish is aimed at.
For more functionality load one of the DVB2000 variant firmwares to it rather than original Nokia firmware. There are a few readme files explaining how to do this. Do a search.
If you want to decrypt encrypted channels then a conax cam or an irdeto freecam offer the most possibilities - with correct cards or emulators.
The newest multicams will not work with it.

ok thanks M8 it has DVB200 V2.00.0 Beta8 already and a Astoncrypt V1.5 cam with a gold card.
What cam would you recomend i get to see as much as possible.
Will be putting a motor on in a few days.

You'll get very little with the Astoncam and goldcard.
Things are changing all the time but probably the best method is to use a PC emulator such as WCE and a season interface with either of the cams I mentioned.
Alternatively, the best card is probably a Titanium with TMB and a conax cam.

To add to 007.4's post above, I agree that the conax 4.00e cam is the best cam to use with the 9600.

The Titanium card using TMB files is a good choice but I prefer the Opos Card now. The Opos can open a few extra channels (mainly basic Seca2 channels) and works marginally better that the Titanium. The disadvantage of the Opos card is that file updates (for key changes) are less frequent than with TMB files - keeping Opos right up to date is a DIY job.

If you can live with using a season card then WCE works really sweetly with a Freecam (again as mentioned by 007.4). You can buy a freecam for much less money than the conax cam.

I`ve been looking around the Forum and i came accros a post from a member who said that the MATRIX RELOADED worked with his 9600.

I know the 9800 has to be modified is this the case with the 9600 if so how do i go about doing it? vbmenu_register("postmenu_36877", true);

There has been a new version of DVB2k_beta8_np55 released recently. It is said that it is meant to work with the matrix versions. The reports I saw said the cam was recognised but did not decrypt. I have not got one of these cams to test with.
The later versions of np5x do work (not very well) with the magic cam.
I'm not aware of any working firmware for the newer multicams. Perhaps we will see one soon though.

Anybody know what sys means on the channel display i know what FTA and CRD are but what is SYS
