Not dead ...just yet !

Hi to all my friends on Sats UK..
I had a visit today from Alex who had work commitments up my way so took that opportunity to collect an old but hi end VCR he sent for me to repair some time ago.
Sadly we didn't have much time to catch up on account of the limited time I have these days looking after mum who is now in the last stages of Dementia.
I have no time to devote to hobbies or even to watch TV these days and once my work day/care day is over I just want to grab a couple of hours sleeep in order to prepare for the next day ...ad infinitum
I did take half an hour to briefly show him some of the contents of my retro computer collection and he may well have taken a couple of photos.
My dishes however remain parked as they were some 18 months ago..and may no longer even function as maintainance has gone to the wall alongside the larger part of my life.
He did convince me that I have been missed and convinced me to at least let you good folk know I'm still alive and why I am very low profile these days.
This message is even hard for me to type with 2 fingers atm ..on account I am currently suffering a minor MS relapse.
I will take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Xmas in advance ..
Stay healthy and dont get old ..you wont like it honest.
If I get time I'll pop in again at some point but I can't say when.
Stay curious keep your minds active...and be excellent to each other.
The next time I will get to go out of my house/museum will be on the 12th when once again I shall be adding my support to the only truthful politician out there.
and yes I paid my £25 to join the Brexit Party.
I daresay there will be those amongst you who would disagree ...but then ..isn't that how democracy works ?

I think I speak for many of the old hands when I say we really do miss you and your weird & wacky projects here. However we do also appreciate things are very difficult for you these days, but its always good to see a hello in on the rare occasions you have a few minutes to yourself.

Of course, a true Brexiteer has, as of March this year, honoured the result of the referendum, left Europe and been committed to providing the best this batch of islands can give. No retreat, no surrender laws.

Great to hear from you Evan, I regret I have to say I do have ten years personal experience of my mum with dementia. Both for me as well as her, it was an enormous relief when the disease finally ended her life almost three years ago now. Please ensure you get a GP to sign an EOL certificate towards the end as this then automatically arranges for a prescription of three specialised drugs which the district nurse can administer day or night, one is for IV morphine, one an IV muscle relaxant and one an iV decongestant, to minimise the discomfort, distress and pain during her final hours. I was with my mum the final twelve hours, yet despite the horrors of the disease, and the pain she was initially in she knew I was there as she could respond to my gentle squeezing of her hand. Even though the disease at times appears to steal their dignity, using those drugs, my mum was able to calmly, peacefully and with great dignity beat the ravages of that horrible disease.

Once again I want to thank you all for your messages...and my plans to call in again were somewhat delayed as Mum comes first..
So ..let me tell you where we are at.
In truth I thought she had passed on Saturday as she slept in a very deep sleep for 24 hours..
I couldn't rouse her to even get her meds in her...
No food passed her lips ...and the best I could do was drip water into her half open mouth from a teaspoon.
And Sunday ...' Back in the room' with her being extra demanding.
She has now many imaginary companions in her head..
Some of the voices are kind to her and in a strange way ...companions to whom she chats endlessly..
One of those voices has convinced her she is close to death ...thus constant requests to either help her die ...or stop this happening.
I can't help her either way and I often am reduced to tears ...as upon entering her room I'm usually greeted with " Evan ...have you come to kill me ?' ".
Her body is not ready to let go ..and actually quite strong for an old lady of 84.
This doesn't surprise me really as longevity is a genetic trademark of the females on mums side of the family..
Her mother lived to be 93 ...and her grandmother died at 99 ...
So technically there could be a good few years of this to come.
Anyway ..nuff said for now as she is calling out again ...and I have to run..
