Novice seeks Diema advice

My Satellite Setup
Currently got Sky Italy and looking for Diema, but a novice technically!
My Location
North West
Looking to set up Diema. All I know is that I have an official card on its way, 80cm dish and its on 16 degrees east, don't know much else?!
Do I need a technomate or a manhattan? What about a CAM? What is a CAM? Also what about software for the decoder? Thanks for anyone's help or advice
 
ok, is it better on 39e? what decoder/software?

What satellite equipment do you currently own?
 
i use a proper sky italia box at the mo, i'm not really fussed about buying a new box, just not got a clue what to buy!
 
ITV Partner (Diema) is encrypted in Cryptoworks on 16E and Iderto on 39E (_http://www.lyngsat.com/). Most official cards available are for 16E. I think most receiver softcams are compatible with Cryptoworks, you get the odd glitch, for example CCCam 2.1.2 would work with my card but 2.0.11 and 2.1.3 onwards seem to be fine. You do need to make sure the CAM supports the card update, which is a weekly update, if the card misses it can be a pain to get it back on, so its critical that this works.

Since the 16E satellite failed (http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...1-eutelsat-confirms-restoration-services.html) the Diema signals are on the Balkan transponders on Seatsat 16E and are much weaker. An 85cm dish will no longer pick up all the channels from the North of England like BNT1 which is the main channel used to update the card. However the main channels of interest can still be picked up and the card updated from them, albeit sometimes alot more slowly.

Even with an 85cm weather conditions could still affect reception, but 16E has always been a pain to be honest, hopefully it will have been fully replaced by the end of the year.
 
ok i am making slow progress. went up on the roof this avo and had a go. i have a manhattan box, cam and diema card got that all sorted but cant get a lock on 16 east with a 1.2m dish? there seem to be a couple of different settings on lyngsat.com? anyone any ideas?
 
I tend to use 11011 V 27500 3/4 as the reference transponder for 16E in order to allign the dish. Give that rascal a try!
