Because if you have multiple receivers it's extremely annoying if one remote controls more than one box. If this 'feature' can't be disabled then you couldn't have an sx88 & sf8008 on the go at the same time - both boxes would react simultaneously.

@Octagon-Germany Is there any chance of Octagon adding a menu option to activate a sup2400? Would make the receiver very attractive to those interested in qo100. Just needs to send the diseqc hex E2 03 00 to switch on & E2 02 00 to switch off :)

Does anyone know if it's possible to send custom diseqc commands from a plugin or are they baked into the drivers/operating system?
 
There was a page or two on the SUP B band converter controlled by DiSEqC in the CQ magazine, but it was around five years ago.

I think the 2400 is no longer manufactured since DirecTV now uses a different set of frequencies.

I have a sup2400 but my soldering skills aren't great so wouldn't be confident doing the internal mod.

If I made one of those pic based boards, would connecting it via a splitter (with a dc blocker) to the LNB work? One output of the splitter to the receiver, the other to the pic board. A simple A-B switch would momentarily disconnect the power and reset the sup2400, I think :confused

Not sure if the board could handle 18v if connected directly inline with the LNB cable, and wouldn't want it switched on all the time anyway.

Can anyone please tell me what is the factory password for Octagon sf8008 because I just gave it a new image OPEN ATV 6.4
and I could not communicate with the receiver to install a channel list or use DCC Dreambox Control center because it keeps asking
me for the correct password> When I used Open ATV 6.2 OR 6.3 I have no problem.
 
Have you set a password, in your receiver?
Some of the latest images insist you set a password, before you can communicate, with your receiver, from your PC, including when using DreamboxEdit or Filezilla.

You can set a password using telnet commands, I used PuTTY to set a password.
Start PuTTY, enter your receivers IP address, select Telnet, and open.
Type root, and then press enter.
At the prompt type passwd and set a new password, press return key and confirm the password, you will not see the password, as it's being typed.

Re-start your receiver then try using your Enigma 2 PC software, remembering to use the password.
