odd noise

Hi all,
i may sound a bit dim here but can anyone tell me how to stop the noise i keep getting on my sky multi room t.v, the main sky+ box in my lounge works fine ,but the sky box (taken from the lounge) and put in my bedroom now makes the t.v in my bedroom make a squeeking noise , i also loose the volume on that channel untill i turn over and back again.

any advice please

Are you connecting it via a scart lead?
 
If you're using a round scart lead, then you could try oiling it. That usually does the trick for me. Hang it up by one end and let some general purpose oil (or even some WD40) run down the inside overnight.

On a more serious note, maybe you're on the fringes of losing the satellite signal? That could possibly result in an awfull screeching noise, often accompanied by some picture break up, or 'pixelation'.

In setup, what sort of signal are you getting?
OK, so I'm grabbing at straws here... just trying to redeem myself :-bash
 
I am sure they are all different but my Sony VTX 750U does that when it requires a complete power down. Switch off the power to your box then power on and leave for five minutes, before trying to use. Always does the trick for me
 
Are you connecting via scart lead?
Are you getting picture breakup?
What signal strength and quality is showing in the setup menu?
Does it happen on all channels?
Once youve changed the channel and the noise disappears, is it alright thereafter?
Does the problem happen on both RF and scart?

We need a little more information.
 
I will find out more and let you know.. i think i might be out of my league on this forum.
 
Unfortunately, for anyone to help, they need to be equipped with the full information on how your box and TV are set up. None of this is very technical, it just needs you to check a couple of things out. :)
 
Make sure it's not a fault that particular tv set, by - obviously - briefly trying the other tv set on that digibox.

Otherwise, screeching - possibly - suggests a sound carrier problem, which can arise if tv is connected via aerial socket. Use Scart instead, or retune tv, or try selecting a different output channel on Sky digibox (installer menu needed).

If it's a signal problem into sky box, as suggested above, that should be fairly obvious, as sometimes the picture would start "breaking up" into flashing squares, so are you getting that? If so, then there can also be odd things on sound, either brief squeaks or clicks.
