Probably in the wrong spot so feel free to move....

I have a td 65 dish on a disecq motor and recently have noticed some reception probs with some chanels noticibly BHT (bosnian tv) on Eutlesat w2
its fta sometimes & in the evenings its a crystal clear picture despite the signal intensity steady at 86%(ok) but signal quality only 5-8% ????. however during the daytime the respective figures are 42 & 2 and of course hardly any picture....I guess the main problem is dish size but just curious why there is such a difference to the reception.

Also Tiny Pop on Astra use to be loud & clear but now picture degrades/pixelates badly all other astra chanels are ok & obviously dish
size not such an issue here again not sure why..

Any thoughts appreciated

Could be the LNB is on its way out. Have you checked the feed cap hasn't cracked or water is sitting where it shouldn't ?

Also the f-plug outside may also have moisture trapped in the end, so either way, you will be climbing a ladder.

Some of the 16E signal strengths have been all over the place since W2 broke down at the end of January. Last time I checked (1m dish) signal strengths were varying greatly from day to day. I rather suspect at least one of the three replacement birds isnt performing as well as she should be.

Many thanks guys i will check some stuff and report back

Could also be that your dish is now off the arc slightly. As obviously you should be getting a virtually infallable signal from 28E, including for Tiny Pop.

Don't forget though, that the IF for11643V is smack bang in the middle of one of the DECT cordless phone bands.

Maybe you should consider upgrading the dish to a larger one anyway, perhaps a TD88 instead, or a Penta.

Thanks Robbo i didnt know about the DECT phone frequency, I guess a bigger dish is the ultimate answer especially for Eutlesat.

Yes, for 16E the bigger the better, especially since W2 went wrong, and had to be replaced by two other dodgy ones. As for DECT probs, turn off all DECT devices temporarily to check that.

Check dish alignment first and maybe an LNb replacement if not. Ideally, a larger dish for 16e.

I lost power on a couple of transponders at 16E after the problems, particularily 11095 H which was far too weak in the North West of England. That was with a correctly alligned 85m dish and brand new Inverto LNB. I now need a 100cm dish to receive that transponder in my location, even then it has SNR 30-40% and BER 150-2500.

Same here, was getting DigitAlb on 16e fine a few weeks ago and now it's all jumpy. I don't really use it that much as I don't use it really but it's still a weird issue.

Seems like the Eutlesat problems are fairly widespread then and the only answer for me there is a bigger dish....The Tiny Pop issue is
a bit of a mystery as allready mentioned Astra should be loud and clear which it mostly is, i have checked dish alingment and looked for obvious
damage to lnb all conectors are secure and water tight, I guess its bigger dish time.

The region of 11.630- 11.650 is also affected by poor quality cable (sometimes just a tight radius), and I recall some tuner faults on receivers would maifest themselves at the if frequency of 1850 - 1950 MHz.

Try a substitute machine first before taking th floorboards up.

I used to get interference on NME TV 11642V at 28E, initially I solved it by moving a DECT basestation upsatairs. The interference came back when I installed the Diseqc switch but after I nipped up the F connectors with a spanner, I haven't had a problem,
