My Satellite Setup
Approx 1M dish in uk, hopefully 1.9 in Spain
My Location
Hampshire UK, Los Montesinos Spain
Not sure if I have the right place to post this, but as I´m looking for answers for my place in Spain, I hope I got it right.

What size dish do I need for my new place in Los Montesinos, Spain ( near Torrevieja )

Was told by a " Guy " in the bar last time I was out out ( a week ago ) 2 meter dish, another guy two months ago said 1.4 meter, who is right?

You are not saying what you wish receive, so than 60cm dish will be enough :-rofl2

I assume you're after UK TV from Astra 2?

OK, did not realise this is a comedy club!
UK TV would be nice!
( Understand the moderator bit, but my latin is rusty, what does non ducor duco mean? )

Hi Bryan - welcome to the forum!

Excuse the comedians - someone left a door open & they escaped again......

Have a look at the link in my signature which I collated when the new Astra 2's took over the BBC & ITV channels. Things may have changed a little since it was collated but it should give you a rough idea of whats going to be needed at your Spanish home

Some of the frequencies my get a bit blatted by the high power (in Spain) Badr'son the next orbital slot along 26E which transmits on the same set of frequencies Have a browse and if you have any questions come back - by then I should have rounded up the escapees and got them safely under lock & key again :D

Thanks, I´ll take a look at that.
Good luck with the inmates!

Bryan - the other possibility is the UK channels transmitted via 27.5W which are the backup feeds to some of the UK Freeview DTT transmitters.

They are encrypted but keys are freely available and wirth the right receiver its relatively easy to get them to work. Theres no guarantee how long they may be around for or if the encryption will be tightened up at some point but for the time being its another possible route.

If you have reasonable broadband then the Filmon.tv site might be worth looking at.

Non Ducor Duco, means:- "I am not led, I lead"
OK, but I´ll give as good as I get!
Now take yourself by the lead and lead yourself back to the cell you escaped from!

Thanks Mr Analoguesat, I´ll look at that too.

In the mean time, I think you have several inmates to lock up again!

a well set up 1.4m dish should be adequate for most channels. if you have room for a 1.9m it would give you less chance of rain fade or atmospheric interruptions. Big is Best :)

OK, thanks for the info, but I do not really want to be paying monthly for the UK tv when I´m in Spain, and certainly not paying when I´m in the UK and cannot watch it!

Just for the record, I checked the front page, and there is this article by ( apparently ) Lazarus. BUT being a new kid on the block, looking for help and information, I would not wish to agree or disagree with who wrote it!

Just Sharing This - Sky to offer satellite TV without a dish from 2018

Thanks for all the help so far

Welcome Bryan i live in southern spain in nerja and have done for 5 years to pick up astra ie sky etc i have a 1200 dish to pick up itv bbc channels 4 and 5 etc i use a 600 dish all ok except in very heavy rain have a look at sat and the pc guy on the net

OK thought I was going mad for a moment!

Have read through some of the reception threads and it looks like the 1.4 should do the job. Will check out more when I get there, in the mean time will call a friend who lives nearby to see what he has and where he got it.
Checked the " sat and pc guy " but he doesn´t cover the area by the look of it.

Thanks for all the help
