There is a building near me due for demolition, it has a prime focus mesh dish on the roof, hard to tell from the gound but it looks about 2m diameter.

The building has been empty for years and i am sure the dish has been abandoned.I am also sure that if i go through the official channels i will get a "no way mate" reply, so i was thinking of approaching the demolition forman and bunging him a few quid!

Anyone ever done this?Or got contacts with thompsons of prudhoe demolition?!!

I'm sure they will let you have it if you can dismantle the dish and take it away.

just go and see what they say ?

As it's a mesh, best not bother.

Alcoa 1.8m mesh or Winegard dish is worth keeping, performs like a solid dish if they aren't warped of course.

What they mostly don't want is for you to get hurt on their property and sue them.

Yes, one of the problems is that all them holes will let the microwaves through.

The wavelength of ku band freqs is about 3cm, any holes larger than about 1/10 of that and the dish won't reflect, C band being of a longer wavelength though sn't a problem.
