Other UK local tv channels 28E

London TV has just launched on Freely (IPTV) recently. I wonder if that was their plan, drop satellite and move to IPTV.

Thats the final closure on satellite for the disaster that was the Local TV rollout. - Thats TV scrapped all the local tv & morphed into a linear entertainment service a long time ago.

When Jeremy Hunt was proposing this back in the day everyone said this would be an unmitigated disaster. He was told that there wouldn’t be enough of an audience/advertising to make these work. His solution was to suggest raiding the BBC to initially fund these stations which people also said wouldn’t work. This was because there wouldn’t be enough of an audience/advertising to make these work once the BBC cash stopped. He still thought local licences were a good idea though despite this and that’s how we got to where we ate.
