!Out Of Disk Space!

Hi Guys,

My DB 7000s finally ran out of disk space and crashed.

I flashed a new image onto it, flash erased the box, download new CP,Cams,Keys but the box will not decode any channels.

I had not got to the stage of moving the Var directory or any of the OS
onto the hard drive so I would not really expect this after a flash erase.

Any Ideas?

I cannot decode any channels.

I have run ps to check processess and newcamd and other cams r running but
I get unable to decode with newcamd, Scam and radegast.

When the disk runs out of disk space is anything dumped into flash?

Even if it was I would of thought that a flash erase would put be back on top?


What do you think guys?
 
Hang on.

Can you get Polsat? ABsat? TV CABO? BBC Prime?

Do all the other DB functions seem to be working?

Can you see the disk in the Dreambox menu?

Is there anything on it?

Have you re-formatted it?

Can you browse it with FTP?
 
The disk is fine, I can play movies etc from it, I can FTp,Ping Telnet etc to box.

I can watch clear programs like BBCworld,Gospel. not bbcprime Kiosk etc.

All other fucntions okay it would appear to be a problem with CAMS,Keys etc.

I have not formatted the hard drive but I now have at least 4gig of free disk space.

Newcamd 5.24 + latest mary's key bundle is what I have.

Hang on.
You got a message from one of the forum's maestros, the one before your last posting. You did not answer his questions. He said hang on etc etc. You prfetty well ignored him. If you do what he says, then I am sure all will be revealed. For the moment, we would be surprised if the lack of disk space on your hdd was causing an inability to clear channels. We can't do TPS and 1W at the mo and this is a big slice. You say you have 4GB clear. What's hdd full capacity? (Sort or royal 'We' here)

Anyway, Marys bundle is still apparently on 04.11 version and Hydra control panel on 05.11. This is less updated than normal so there may be problems there with the d/l site.
Your DB appears to be working. You can play movies. Indeed, it is very hard to destroy it. You seem to have what we usually call finger trouble.
 
No, I did respond correctly if you read my response.

I am not suffering from finger trouble and have had many setbacks with the DB over the past x months and in short been through the baptism of fire.

If you are saying that Kiosk went down yesterday then great - that means that that is really my problem and I shall work around it other wise my prob could be that the flash prom is at 95% usage which could mean - and I am assuming here that there is not enough space for the cams to run correctly to decode the channels.

Hmm, I sometime find that a blast from the "keyfile updater" seems to sort out some stuff that marys key bundle does not. Have you tried that?
 
I tried that already without any luck, I am currently flash erasing again and starting from scratch.

I dont know of anything else that can evoke such emotion in me other than my girlfriend.

I love it one minute and hate it the next - Usually the best relationships?

Oh well onward we go.

Well that's somehting, but the reason I was labouring the point about all the different packages is that if you can open just one encrypted channel, then it can't be your CAM/key structure.

Sounds likely that you have just run out of ROM. Try jamming less stuff in this time. You only need one or two CAMs.

:( It was a shock to surf the channels last night, and find most are now closed...

Anyone know if there is any progress toward getting the DB to understand C4/C5/ITV1/ITV2 yet? Interestingly ITV3 is clear.

I was looking in my Var directory and it was jam packed, I started removing certain files in the tmp and other directories but decided that I was'nt making much headway so I decided to re-flash.

I will be picky on what I download now.

I have to have a look around for the option to transfer the Var and other directories to the HD.

there is probably a sticky for it on the board.

There is a new rsakeylist around for conax dated 11:33 17/11/04 that gets 1W back.

You may be thinking the HDD full problem has stopped the box decoding.

Like everyone has said most channels have now gone.

I spent all night rebuilding a Mac only to find out the next day that NTL broadband was down for everyone - you live and learn.

Basically what I am trying to say is that Newcamd is still working (this morning) on ABMotors on Hotbird if you can get that working chance are it's not the box/HDD.

One thing to remember is that your drive may be XXgb but a lot of space is allocated to directories etc. Try copying some moves to you PC.
 
Well guys after downloading new RSAkeylist file Kiosk is okay however I cannot see TPS multivision which ties in with Bgonasticks earlier post.

If I should be able to get TPS multivision please let me know.

You were right about that - sods law, I left the DB recording last night and woke up to a full hard disk.

I cleared some files and could not decode - Just unlucky that there was a code change on the same night a.
