Was browsing LIDL site to see if their annual satellite gear specials have appeared and noticed from today they had a Brother P-Touch 1230PC labeller that connects to a computer via USB for £25. Normally thy retail in the £40 mark.

Picked one up from my local LIDL, downloaded the P-Touch Editor and connected then tried it out with the extended editing software, there is also a built in lite version that needs no installation and toggles between the two with a switch on the back.

Here is a screenshot of the software in use I made up another label for the adjustment bolt for my CM Polar Mount, the software allows me to exact size any image and text and with it being laminated Brother say they're very resistant.

Planning on labelling cable ends, especially useful for me on my diseqc switches.

From first use its a bargain in my opinion.

I would agree, they are very useful, I had use of one for a couple of years, I just wonder why they are being sold so cheap, or has the software not been written for anything above XP?
 
I think this is one of those great gadgets where they discount the machine because the replacement tapes cost over £10 a go, so think laser printers where they almost give you the printer because they know they've got you when you need refills

I was looking at these online yesterday and thinking they could be useful, the mother apparently did Brother warranty stuff when working for a call centre, so knows what they are, but, having had experience of Brother products myself and them not quite living up to standards, I think I'll leave it be, plus I haven't the money for one... :D
