Some twelve weeks ago I decided to disconnect my Pace 2600ci and bring out my Pace 3100 for a firmware update.
Current Epg software version is 5.07.u.Unfortunately I had not realised that this had been updated to 5.08.6 back in July2010.I have attempted on numerous occasions to do a forced download but I have had no luck.As already stated I have been using the receiver for the past twelve weeks hoping it would update as and when.No luck as yet.The receiver is working perfectly well with out the update.
Do I take it that Sky have decided not to download any more software for the older SD receivers, now that they only produce HD models.I have not had a problems in the past, I even updated an old Panasonic receiver last year over night, which had software on which was two years out of date.
I would appreciate any feedback.Many thanks.

I take it that you had your card in and also registered it with 'Sly', also have your telephone cable pluged in ?

Just leave it plugged in and on standby overnight. It'll probably update eventually. The update streams arent transmitted all the time, and with the number of types of boxes in use now there could be long gaps between them.

Having said that occasionally if a box misses a particular update it never updates again....

Irrelevant to this problem. All updates are sent via satellite not down the phone. Ive had Sky for nearly 10 years and in all that time the boxes have been plugged into the phone line for less than 5 minutes.

I thought that the "manual software" downloads are done from freq 11778?
Yet urgent / routine ones are made available on all frequencies when needed?
So perhaps, due to your location, maybe your box is not updating as you are doing it when 11778 is not available (time of day or dish just too small / not aligned properly).

I did have a old grundig that took 6 weeks before it updated automatically....just left it in a corner on Sky news and it eventually updated.
Tried another on manual update on the same day, and nothing (as it was on my small dish and unable to receive 11778), so moved it to the big dish, 11778 was available, and it manually updated 1st time.

Thanks for your respone gents.
I will pull it out of the cupboard and try again.Just to let you know woborny all my sky boxes are on the large dish (1.8-1.9m Famaval dish).Yes, I also leave it on sky news for the updates.
I disconnected it because I find Zapping is so much slower on the Pace 3100 than the 2600ci.
I will advise you all of the outcome in due course.Could be a long wait thought!!! Thanks again
