Yesterday we purchased a new lcd tv and dvd recorder. We went home unplugged all the wires from the Pace box rigged up the new tv and dvd and put it all back together. The tv works fine and the dvd, but when i came to recording on the sky+ box and watching another channel, i got the message that there was no satellite signal being received, but when i stopped the recording the other channels came back on. I re checked the connection and there dosent seem to be anything wrong.

So i rang sky and asked them about the connections but they just wanted to do a system reset which we did but to no avail. They then suggested that i pay £65 to have an engineer come out as it would appear that one of the signals had been blocked by something?????.
I said surely this wouldnt have happened just because i undid the wires and put them back in but they couldnt help me only to send out engineer at my cost (2 months out of warrenty).

Before i am forced to do this has anyone elso encountered this problem and been able to deal with it themselves or could anyone give me any ideas as to what could be wrong.

Don't have a sky+ box but sounds like your only running off 1 feed, so i'd check the sat cables to make sure there alright.

Yes, as PJ says, check the cables and connections, swap the two around, then check to see what the signal strength and quality readings are in the services menu.
 
this sometimes hints that the disk has failed in the box. Can you playback any recordings or will the box not let you get that far?
