Parental Pin Number

Hi, one of the s** cards I have (FTV) is from a bootsale and pin protected. The pin is not the last 4 digits on the card. I notice in oscam log file the number is given as 3E 00 0F 00. I tried a hexdecimal converter, but the number was huge. How do I find the Pin number for this?

There is nothing to protect with a FTV card

Send this xpl file script using winexplorer with the correct settings.
Then convert the two byte PIN in hex to decimal using windows calculator (or similar)

Sonic there is. If parental lock is on and you try to use in a normal Sky box you can´t get other channels. So finding out the PIN is good for FTV cards here.

Well apart from telephoning $ky and asking them to reset the PIN, using my script is the only way to read the PIN from the card.
You need to do some reading and learning and have a Phoenix type interface and WinExplorer (by Dexter) to run the script.

Alternatively, I'm sure there is a setting in the $ky box where you can disable the PIN protection. I'm sure someone else will be able to advise about that.
 
007.4. Sky do not provide any service like that to third parties, and the only way to turn off parental lock is to input the PIN number, so I am buggered on both counts.

I was hoping there was some conversion software, as I believe I have the coded PIN number - 3E 00 0F 00, I just need to convert it into 4 digit decimal.

I am sure I need to do some reading and learning (thats why I am on this site), but your original post did leave out major parts, like the Phoenix interface. Unfortunately my old usb reader got binned years ago.
 
Guessing, but if the 00 blocks are nulls or spacers of some sort, then 3E >> 62 and 0F >> 15, giving a PIN of 6215. Depending upon formatting, it could equally be 1562.

Of course, I am in all probability talking out of my hat. In my day, we used Octal!

Thats where I have been going wrong. Too much working in the Canarian sun, frying my brain and not enough alcohol!

PINs are stored on the viewing cards. Parental controls are stored on the box and can be turned off using any viewing card with a known PIN - so merely beg, steal or borrow a card with known PIN and turn off all "parental controls" and voila "other channels" can be viewed without having to input a PIN.
 
Dave, I don´t want to argue with you, but I had 120 S*y cards, most accessed other channels ok, some asked for PIN (about 15), so I don´t think this is the case.

tivu, yes there is an incredible amount of cheap alcohol here, its just I haven´t had the time to drink my share lately - or yours for that matter! With regard to cockroaches do you mean the creatures or the timeshare touts?!

Sorry you are wrong. On Sky boxes accessing "other channels" has absolutely nothing to do with a viewing card unless any parental controls are set on the box or the channel is encrypted. Do different cards give different results in the same box - I very much doubt it as the parental controls (except the out of watershed one which cannot be turned off) are definitely stored on the box. The next time you get a combination of card and box that asks for a PIN for other channels - try putting a card with known PIN in the box turn off all "parental controls" and you should then be able to access "other channels" without a PIN or even a viewing card if the channel is not encrypted. I have installed over 150 FreesatFromSky boxes now for friends, relatives over the last 10 years and frequently come across the problem with second hand boxes without viewing cards and merely solve it by using my own card with its known PIN.
 
They should only require the pin when card inserted if they are showing post watershed programming.
 
Dave, yes I used one Sky box to find out which cards would reactivate, and some cards that did come back to life requested a PIN for other channels. Maybe it was a pre watershed situation. I will have a look next time I have a Sky box set up.
